Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Echo Dot (4th Gen)'s sound quality and ease of use, frequently praising its compact size and improved design. Many appreciate its affordability and seamless connectivity with other smart home devices. While some users wished for enhanced bass and faster response times, the positive feedback on the product's core features outweighs these minor drawbacks.

Voice recognition isn't as good as the 3rd generation dot especially if you have a TV or radio on in the background. Speaker seems about the same as the 3rd generation.

This is the worst Alexa device that I have ever owned. It requires restarting frequently; it doesn't respond for long periods of time; it doesn't hear my voice as do the other Alexa devices I own. Whether it is just this one or all Alexa Dot 4th Gen I can't say, but this one is lousy.

The overall coverage of the microphone in the 4th generation is a major improvement over the 3rd generation. But truly the speaker system suffers dramatically on base.

When it works it’s great however it seems to need rebooted often so features will continue working properly. I expected a little more from an Amazon device.

I find this model to be slower and less responsive then the echo 2. However idk if it's because I'm using the male entity, Ziggy or what?!

Nice; but I don't like it as much as the Tap. You cannot carry it with you, Has to stay plugged in. Does not always connect. Cannot get it to sync with the Tap.

Buy the 3nd generation, it is sufficient, you don't need this round ball, no major difference

I like how helpful it can be but it seems like it only plays music from Amazon music and I use Apple Music:/ that’s the only bad thing.

Love the new look...but the sound isn't as good as previous generation Dot. Also, disappointing that it no longer charges via USB.

This was a pretty garbage device from the second I got it. I’ll be the first to admit despising an admission of it, but even Siri is better than this thing. Just a constant of ‘I’m having trouble playing that right now, try again later’ but for everything. The speaker quality was decent at best, it was all nothing but mid-range. The high and low ends were extremely washed out. What you see here is what you get. A talking bowling ball. I was extremely dissatisfied with this product over the entire year I had it, minus two months where it wouldn’t function at all, claiming issues with software updates, but wouldn’t connect to the app to actually perform the update, even Amazon couldn’t help, but lo and behold it actually worked one day. In conclusion, save your money, and get a good Bluetooth speaker to hook to your phone, or one of the Apple devices similar, it’ll save you the inconvenience.
