Nice addition to a smart home

I like how they work and allow me to control the lights withing my house. Nice at night to control my bedroom without having to leave the bed. I have not set it up but I am going to setup my Espresso maker to to a smart plug so I can turn it on to heat while I get ready to go down stairs.

Seems to be working fine. Setup was mostly easy, though it did need an immediate firmware update to get it working as a repeater.

Posted .Hi MissMolly, thank you for providing feedback on your experience with the Echo Dot. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our devices and so this information is very helpful. I do want to share some information regarding privacy. You have the ability to mute the device by pressing the button with a circle and a line through it. The button will turn red when muted. Saying 'Alexa' will not unmute the device and you'll have to press it again to unmute and use Alexa as normal. Hopefully this information is helpful for the future.
