Also like that it has a temperature sensor, so I can ask Alexa what is the temperature in the room. Sensor seems fairly accurate, although it tends to report slightly higher values than standalone sensors I use in same room).

The added bonus of a free trial of Amazon Music was impossible to activate despite calls to both Best Buy and Amazon.

I bought this one to control the lights, and it’s doing the job. I bought it on BF, and it was in a boundel with a smart bulb. It was a great deal!

This one will not follow simple routines. Actually refused to follow command on how to respond to a household member. Said it was too military!!! OMG!!

Posted .Hi MissMolly, thank you for providing feedback on your experience with the Echo Dot. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our devices and so this information is very helpful. I do want to share some information regarding privacy. You have the ability to mute the device by pressing the button with a circle and a line through it. The button will turn red when muted. Saying 'Alexa' will not unmute the device and you'll have to press it again to unmute and use Alexa as normal. Hopefully this information is helpful for the future. Nice but...

The other sporadically. It would unpair itself and I would have to initiate a startup again. I am hoping it's an anomaly and will correct itself eventually. Here's hoping.

When I finally did, and realized all the cool things it could do I went out and got six more , one for every room and the garage. Great for setting alarms, timers and reminders, playing selected music, answering questions and a ton of other cool things. Don't know how they do it, but they do it well. This last one was bought as a gift.
