It does not have the clock and it needs to be plugged in for operation. The sound is really good for such a small unit. I really like its ability to go to whichever radio station that I might want to listen to. it also allows me to ask it to play a Casting Crowns or the Eagles or any group that you would like to listen to. Overall very good purchase.

The Echo Dot does require and Amazon Account, the Alexa App downloaded on a smart phone or tablet, and a working outlet to plug in. My big complaint is that the black color still comes with a white power cord. This is a big oversight for a device that’s supposed to exist in plain sight. It’s also not a standard USB cable like previous models so sourcing a black cable is difficult.
