Posted .Hello ChristopherJ! I am so sorry you are having issues with your Echo Dot. One thing I would recommend to try is to say "Alexa, Check for Updates." This will ensure you are on the latest software update. You can also unplug your device for 30 seconds and then plug it back in as well. You definitely should not be getting degradation of voice recognition quality over such a short time as we have Echo Dots that still function after many years of use. If neither of these helps improve your experience, I would recommend contacting Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further. I hope this helps some and that you have a phenomenal day!

Had to be a bad one because I asked the Good Samaritan neighbor if he’d seen or heard it where it said it was on his property and he had no knowledge of any such speaker.

There is a lot you can do for free on the Echo Dot like asking about the weather, setting timers, making voice calls to other Alexa enabled devices, control lighting/thermostats/smart plugs/appliances and more. If you want to play music, you can add your preferred music platform whether it be Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora and more.
