The Alexa app was not always intuitive, and going through Wi-Fi configuration, linking accounts, and getting routines going felt more time-consuming than it should be. Learning Commands Is a Challenge: Even after setup, teaching Alexa to understand my commands was a bit tricky. I found myself repeating phrasing, and sometimes the responses weren’t quite what I intended. This made using it less seamless than I hoped. Connectivity & Command Recognition Issues: There are known concerns with 5th-gen Dots missing voice commands or not always responding reliably. Some users on forums report that their devices don’t always pick up the wake word, or that connectivity drops. No 3.5mm Audio Jack: One major downside is that this version lacks a physical audio-out jack, so you can’t easily connect it via cable to external speakers. After having my own for years, I knew she liked it from using it at my house as well as my sisters, but never had her own. The echo dot is great because it gives her a hands free opportunity to take care of things. She can also connect it to a few other smart devices in her house. Overall I think it was a great purchase for her and will be extremely handy.

It does exactly what I needed it for which is to connect to my record player. It easily pairs with any device and has great sound quality.

But this Echo Dot wins for two reasons. I the the sound is better and it was much easier to set up. The downside is the notifications Alexa tells me about which are nothing but Amazon ads for stuff it thinks I want. That's really annoying!

SovI decided to switch teams and got 3 Echo Dots, one in each color. I'm impressed with the sound, even as compared to my non-broken Google drvices. They respond quickly and accurately, but I'm annoyed with the "notifications" of things Alexa thinks I should buy.

I tested three of each brand placed throughout my house for 6 months, and I prefer the AMAZON ECHO DOT "Alexa" speaker for SOUND QUALITY and for it's emergency calling feature which not only CALLS the designated person but also sends them a TEXT MESSAGE which the Google Speaker does not do.
