There is more improvements besides a new cover and fancy display. The device boots up much faster and the microphone seems to have been upgraded as calls made through the device are much cleaner and better to understand.

My favorite Alexa. Got on sale!

Speaker is plenty good and the clock and other features it will display are very handy. Great buy when on sale and extra goodies are included for free.

Very hit and miss on getting it to connect to anything. The first time I got it working with my nanoleaf Christmas tree lights it seemed to happen at random (after dozens of tries of saying try again later). This last time I had to deregister it and then register it again, and then it seemed to work (but still won't show which network it is connected to). Also by re-registering it, I could now assign it to a music group which I had not been able to do originally. Very iffy device. I would not recommend it but I'm still using it for now

In terms of network issues, you can try unplugging your Echo Dot and router for a few minutes, then plug them back in. I would also suggest to move your Echo Dot closer to your router if possible. Additionally, check if other devices are heavily using your network and causing congestion. Sonce this child is a tween, it allows them privacy where im not constantly knocking or intruding. I realy like the announcements feature.

Ask anything and you get an answer. So useful for many things, weather, make a grocery store list, play music- choose your genre and hear some great music while you clean, gave my grandson some info on history.
