The Alexa features are fine on both. Gave this one 2 stars only because of the clock which I really needed.

Posted .Hello TheresaD! I am glad you are enjoying your new Echo Spot as that is a fantastic new device in our lineup. However, I did also want to point out that the light brightness of the LED clock display on the Echo Dot with Clock is also able to be customized by going into the settings of the device in the Alexa app on your smartphone. There you are able to set it to auto brightness or simply increase or decrease the brightness manually. It can go rather bright in that event. Yours may have been set on auto brightness which is affected by how much light is hitting the sensors. It may cause it to appear too dim, for instance, if the sun is hitting the device. Not worth the extra money

We value any and all feedback we can get to continue to improve upon our devices for our customers so I thank you for taking time to share. For your device that has gone bad, you can try to factory reset the device either through the Alexa app in your smartphone or by pressing and holding down the Volume Down button and Action button simultaneously for a full 30+ second count while it is plugged in. You will know that it is reset by seeing the flashing yellow ring at the bottom. Once this comes back, you can re set it back up in the Alexa app. If this doesn't work, we would love the opportunity to troubleshoot with you further to see if we can resolve your problem.
