Great device when out and about for Echo users

First thing to note, these are speakers directing sound towards your ears, not bone induction audio technology. This means if the volume is loud enough or you are close enough to others, they will hear what you have going on. One of the benefits of these, same as bone induction, is that they are open ear systems, meaning you are more aware of environmental noises around you. Obviously, you can't wear earplugs with these to focus on the sound like you can with bone induction.
These are sunglasses, so I reviewed them as such, using them in situations where you would be wearing sunglasses. One thing to note, sunglasses are often perched up on your forehead/brow when temporarily not needing the light shading. When you do this, the volume decreases a lot, about by half. This is due to the increased distance and angle of the speakers to your ears.
Once synched to the Alexa app on your smartphone, these work much like a portable echo dot speaker, the difference being the notifications from your phone being the main main source of unprompted interaction. When you get a notification from an app that the Frames has not received before, Alexa will ask you if you want to continue receiving notifications for that app, swipe to keep getting that app's notification, tap to drop it from the list. The Alexa app has a spot to redo or edit the notifications allowed list. Making and Taking calls on the Frames worked very well, the other person on the line had no issues conversing with me. The Frames has an auto volume level that seems to work fairly well, it will up the volume to the speakers when the ambient noise level increases and decrease the volume when it gets really quiet.
There is a feature to put the frames to sleep when they are set down on their back, temple up. The red light on one of the stems will light for 3 seconds letting you know they are going to sleep. This is NOT the same as turning them off completely. The battery will slowly drain in this sleep mode. Battery life varies with use. If you put them to sleep by laying them down when they were on, the battery drained about 30 percent over 10 hours or so. When you put them on and they comeback to "life" it will give you a battery status, only in 10 percent increments. 10 percent is the last warning you get before it will state that battery is depleted and will now be turning off.
These are very useful if you want to listen to music or podcasts/books while out and about, but the battery won't last much more than a couple hours for that use case.
I really recommend these for those that use Echo/Alexa a lot or want to listen to things outside without blocking out enivronmental noise. The sunglasses would be a natural transition from the house to the outside or from Echo Auto to the outside.

Comfortable Glasses With Good Audio Quality

Out of the box, these glasses come with everything you would need to fully enjoy them. They come standard with polarized lenses but can be brought to an optician should you prefer to add lenses that work for you. Overall, setup of the glasses is simple as the app, once downloaded walks you through the process with no issues. The frames are lightweight and comfortable to wear, but as a woman my main issue is that the style of the frames doesn't suit me and isn't something I would consider wearing if they were not also enabled with Amazon Alexa or audio capabilities. The audio output is sufficient for calls and media and this is a feature I enjoy using regardless of the style of the glasses. From the box itself to the included accessories these frames are certainly a high end smart device that will be appreciated by many and having the option to switch out the lenses means even I will be able to wear them daily. The features and inclusions make these a great option for anyone in the market for something like this, I would certainly recommend them to someone looking for this type of technology and this style of frames.

I recently received these Amazon echo second generation frames to test. I opted for sunglasses but there is an option for frames only and you can add your own prescription lenses. I wear contacts 90% of my time I'm active. So first impressions of the physical product, very light plastic, and feel cheap, like gas station sunglasses plastic on the ear pieces, maybe a bit stronger on the rim part. The darkness of the lenses, fair, does get a bit dim under underpass while driving for me, but fairly acceptable. Polarization is a plus to reduce glair. They are comfortable enough. The charging is through a magnetic proprietary plug to a USB brick (cord and brick included). Easy connect and disconnect, disadvantage, another cord I need to take traveling if I take these with. I feel they could have done a usb-c or micro USB, common and if lost I have a ton of. As for function. They paired quickly with my phone via the Alexa app. Very nice, and you have several settings of auto volume control to what notifications and such you can use, enabling Alexa ect… easy to follow, and have in set up demo's if you wish. It has a TouchPad on the right bow that has several functions and then a rocker switch for volume and button for power and pause, call answer, and assistant. I have 3 assistants to choose from and it will let you select which one comes up. The sound is discrete under ½ volume, then it does start to be able ot be heard by the person next to you easily. Quality of sound is good also similar to many earbuds I have, spacialized well. This makes it easy to hear ambient sounds while also listening to music. I feel these could be used jogging, they fit well enough, and for folks that are driving a ways and may have a car that isn't hands free, this could serve a dual purpose as sunglasses and non obstructive hands free device. Call quality is very good, everyone can hear me clearly and I haven't had issues with them either. Answering and declining are easy enough. Overall impression i' like to give a 3.5 star review. 1 point loss for build quality, half point off for proprietary charger. That being said, I would rather round to 4 stars because they may have a good reason spacewise/connection wise ot have that plug. An interesting way of keeping connected and shading your eyes. Fascinating like a calculator watch was in 1982. If you are looking for something like this, there are only a few things to look at for competition, but these are competitively priced. I would recommend these because they do what they say and connect and operate easy.

Finally I had the opportunity to try some sunglasses with speakers and microphone included and it has not been a bad experience, the unboxing is simple, with an elegant box where the glasses come first and below the charger with its respective usb cable, its case and a cloth to clean the sunglasses.
The first thing is to connect the glasses to the charger as the charge they come with is very minimal, once charged the connection is through the Alexa app, it is simple but at least to me at first it showed me an error, but on the second attempt I connected it without problem, once connected they will work as headphones (they'll work not only with Alexa app but with all your apps that use microphone or speakers) only this time there is nothing inside your ears, the speaker is in the temples of the sunglasses which makes them look a little thick and not very aesthetic, the sound quality is not bad but definitely not at all immersive, I feel that the external noise is perceived much and one can be easily distracted, it will depend on where they are used that much benefit they can give you.
They look good but if you look at them in detail you can perceive that they are a pair of glasses with technology. The microphone quality is regularly is not the best but it fulfills its function, you have to consider when buying a device like this, things like audio or microphone because by the very nature of this product, may not have a very high performance because they are sunglasses with which we can listen to music, make and receive calls, and a lot of things that you can organize, plan or execute with the voice assistant, which in this case for being an amazon product it already includes connection with Alexa and devices connected to the same account, but above all this does not cease to be a sunglasses.
In my opinion it is a very interesting device that fulfills its function correctly but it seems that there are still some aspects to improve such as audio, battery and the use that can be given because for now the virtual assistants are those who play a greater role in these devices, not so much us, so if you like technology and do not want to have anything inside your ears, listen to your favorite music, answer calls and protect your eyes from the sun, these glasses are a good choice and more if you get them with a discount or promo.

As stated you won't have much privacy with conversations or music which may be a little obvious since it isn't in your ear like earbuds. But I do like having a device hands free that works with the Alexa devices in my home. The downside is my face is a bit too small for them. That's my only complaint. But calls for me and the person I'm talking to are very clear. The charge doesn't last very long so it's something you will need to charge throughout the day.

These Echo Frame sunglasses do just what the description states. If the features of these sunglasses attract your interest, you’ll be very happy with them.
The glasses do not have too much of a ‘dorky’ look. They are lightweight, weighing about the same as a normal pair of glasses. I don’t think anyone will notice that these aren’t ordinary sunglasses. To operate them, you need to make sure you’ve got the Alexa app open on your smartphone, otherwise they’re just a normal pair of glasses which constantly remind you to open the app. Listening to music is fun and very comfortable, with nothing in or over your ears and the stereo effect is great. Not much bass, but for casual listening it’s OK.
To me though, it’s like the product was developed without anyone asking if there’s really a need for them. If you have an Apple or Google Smartwatch, you can answer the phone or ask Siri or Google a question using your watch. If you want music, a good pair of earbuds will give you much better sound and many of them will answer your phone and give you audio as clear to the caller as your new Echo frames.
Something I noticed, which would trouble me more with the Echo regular prescription glasses, is that when I had them on around my house, and would ask Alexa to play a song, many times the music came out of the various other Echo devices around the house instead of my glasses. Once even my Echo equipped thermostat started playing Katy Perry. Since you don’t usually wear sunglasses when inside your home, this phenomenon wouldn’t be too much of a problem with these, although many people have Echo equipped sound systems in their cars, putting them in the same situation. Battery life was just adequate. If you listen to music or are on the phone for most of the time wearing them, your battery won’t last more than about six hours which means you’d be wearing them as ordinary sunglasses for part of the day.
The glass lenses are polarized and work very well in cutting down glare, although just like other polarized glasses you need to take them off when looking at your phone or a computer screen
Bottom line, If you think you’d enjoy the features offered by these Echo sunglasses you’ll be happy with them. They’re not cheap, but many ordinary brand-name sunglasses are just as expensive.

Overall these are not bad smart glasses. The battery life is pretty good. The design, while not stylish, is useable. The sound is good and the ability for the device to keep sound to a level only you can hear is nice as well.
These do work via bluetooth so you do need to have your phone handy. They are easy to set up with the Alexa app.

Pairs really easy to my android phone. It plays regular audio pretty good but audio quality level for listening to music is not that good. Even with the Amazon app connected. Would recommend if you want stylish sunglasses with no outside noise. Good for audio books and Sitting in the car and listening to podcast or at the beach.

The quality of the glasses is very good and I appreciate the polarized lenses that it comes with. Smart devices like this have some really nice applications, such as riding a bicycle or motorcycle for adding audio capabilities from a mobile phone.
The glasses are sleek and attractive and function exactly as advertised. It adds Bluetooth audio to the frames and has some very smart functionality. I am able to stream music without plugging my ears, but that’s just the beginning.
When a mobile phone application receives an email or text message, Alexa will ask me to swipe to accept notifications or tap to ignore them. I like that I can pick and choose what notifies me while I am wearing them. Alex functions perfectly by either tapping a button, or by simply using the “hey Alexa” method to ask a question or control an enrolled device.
I suggest setting up through the Alexa application and not trying to just hook up Bluetooth first. I had to undo my initial attempts because I didn’t follow the directions correctly. Once I followed the instructions in the application, it worked flawlessly.
The lenses are just the right tint where I can wear them in the sunlight outdoors or while working with my computer monitors. I have found that the glare is greatly reduced while working and I enjoy listening to my audiobooks and playlists while I’m working.
I look forward to continued evolution of this product.

Amazon - Echo Frames (2nd Gen) | Smart audio sunglasses with Alexa | Classic Black with polarized sunglass lenses - Black
Summary:
Works as designed. Nothing special.
Pros:
* Super lightweight.
* They work as designed.
* Touch controls are nice.
* Nice sleek look.
Cons:
* Sound quality. I've previously owned a set of the competing Bose sunglasses. For a Benjamin more or so you could get significantly superior audio quality. The bass is altogether missing and the volume level isn't adequate in busy spaces.
Use:
I tried this out and about for a week and I have to say they are light and easy to use. They don't wear on the bridge of my nose. But the audio quality just isn't what I'd expect (or enjoy) even with the targeted projection to my ears. I think these are good for on-the-go activities like walking, gardening, etc. Something you wouldn't mind (much) if they got lost, but also didn't expect a more immersive and richer sound experience.
