The Amazon Echo Show 2nd Generation is amazing. Alexa is my new best friend! Ask it a question and you get an answer. Want a recipe, ask and you shall receive. Want the lyrics to your favorite song? Again, ask and she shows them as you listen to your song. I bought several Echo products - Echo Show, Echo Speaker and Echo Dot. The Geek Squad installed them flawlessly. They answered my questions, gave me a complete tutorial, and made sure I was completely satisfied before they left my home. I recommend all Echo products. I don't know how I managed before Alexa came into my life! Great product!

    Parents beware

If you have young children in the house, please don't put this device in your home. It's just not worth it. I wish I could give 0 stars. First let me say, we used our Echo show daily for 6+ months. As a family, we loved to ask Alexa to play our favorite songs and the kids would sing along and stand in front of the device to read the lyrics playing on the Echo Show. I loved to set timers in the kitchen and see how much time was left on the device and give voice commands to shut it off. We also enjoyed when Amazon/Alexa would show us trending topics - like "how the Super Bowl saved Avocados." We'd also see headlines that would lead us to ask things like "what's the Solo Honeymoon story?" The kids favorite activity was to hear Harry Potter on audible through our Echo show and we even enabled the Harry Potter Quiz skill. Gee, did they learn that we had kids that liked Harry Potter? Which brings me to last week when I walked into the kitchen to see my 8 year old standing in front of the device with a graphic pornographic music video playing on the Echo Show at 6:47 in the morning. The command that was showing and confirmed through the app (see photo) was "What's the Harry Potter video?" So, that's how Amazon exposed my 8 year old to pornography before she had breakfast. If Amazon had responded with anything remotely resembling an appropriate reaction - I might not leave this review. I believe this was targeted and someone deliberately tagged this video to follow that prompt and I don't believe they were targeting an adult with a desire to watch a Harry Potter fetish first thing in the am. I hope Best Buy allows this review as I truly think Amazon should be recalling the device until they can assure parents this can't happen again. Someone needs to be able to answer 1 - how this happened. 2 - what they're doing about? Long story short - it's a high end device that could make your life easier but at what cost?

Love the new Echo Show. It's so much easier being able to see everything. Love to see lyrics displayed and how much time is left on timer.

After 2 years it began locking up. I’ve had to restart it many (5+) times in the past year. Seems like a lot of money for something to only give 2 years of good service.

SET UP WAS EASY. THE SOUND HAS IMPROVED OVER PRIOR MODEL. UNABLE TO CONNECT WITH THE ECHO SUBWOOFER. SPENT 45 MINUTES ON PHONE WITH AMAZON TECH SUPPORT AND STILL WAITING FOR SOLUTION.

This device worked well then it started to become finicky and turn off on its own. I rebooted it and the problem continues, I reset it to factory settings and that didn’t help either. I gave up on it working correctly. Maybe I got a faulty one but u don’t recommend this. Unfortunately I passed the one year mark and was not able to have it replaced.

Of course you are going to pay a lot more $$$ for the improved and updated version but it is money well worth spending. This device will keep learning new skills and will be able to be used in countless new ways as it gets updated.

    Did NOT perform as expected

Bought for my uncle, had to purchase a smart phone for it to work as we need. We wanted him to call relatives and see them, we wanted Alexa to answer the phone for him on command and hang up the phone, dial the phone number etc.... It worked once in awhile, she would often say contact not found on your list, or not pick up the phone. It was a nightmare. Ill stick to the echo Dot as that works really well. I took it back to best buy, the first one we bought was broken and this one just wasn't working as expected and best buy gave us credit because it was less than 30 days but over 15 days. I wish I purchased some place else as I didn't know this policy. They gave me store credit for another bad product...disappointed

Overall device is OK, however, given the high price point I think it's not the best purchase. Watching Youtube in a browser is not a great experience.

What the heck happened to recognition quality?

I have 10 Alexa's all over the house. Three of them are the echo shows. I have found myself having to say the Wake word more often over the past couple months as their recognition has plummeted. I find myself getting extremely frustrated saying Alexa, or echo, or computer, I have to say it three to six times before the thing recognizes me or other people in my family. I'm just about done with the whole family of Alexa products and moving to Google.

Amazon needs to make a version of this device without a camera. I don’t feel comfortable having an always’on Camera in my house, ready for hackers.
