So I am really trying to like this device. I got a great deal on the Prime day discount. How do I describe this? I’ll settle for ‘less than’. I bought this as a mini entertainment hub for my desktop to keep my sanity during COVID-19 while working from home. Since it’s echo and priced out, I sort of expected close functionality of Fire TV. Not even close. Three video channels in all not counting you tube. Half of the things I enjoy can’t be accessed through the built in web browser because it identifies as a mobile device and doesn’t allow sign in. I mean news forchristsakes. The featured news stories do not include video. Even the built in video services are limited as there is no way to sign in for customization and what you may want to watch is up to the fates. I can deal with ALL of this. What I cannot deal with is the inadequacy of the routines. Periodt. I like to sleep with white noise on a timer. The problem is, the only way to arm my security system, although it is linked, is through a custom routine. The problem? This routine must run last. No worries EXCEPT it will not run until the play noise feature is complete. In other words, my security system will not arm until three hours AFTER I say goodnight. Defeats the purpose as this action would wake me. I received a free speaker from the other guys that is more competent. It plays my white noise but arms the security system without waiting the full three hours. I can deal with every other shortfall (Although you shouldn’t have to at this price point), but a smart speaker that is too dumb to move to the next step I cannot tolerate. This review makes me sad because I sprung for this one as a test drive for the third generation yet to be released. I can’t even justify the expenditure now.

Love the Echo Show but it could do with some improvement in functionality. Closes search screen after a short time which is a pain if following a recipe or streaming something.

The speaker on this product is amazing. It is definitely better than any google product.

Gives older people a way to both interact and use the internet in a simple way. Takes a little time to get used to it but then gives them a link to the world and their family.

I never knew how useful an Echo could be until I bought one! We've linked it up to Apple Music, our Ring Cameras, and we've also bought some smart bulbs and plugs. I didn't even know that I could play games on it! Sometimes, it's fun just talking to Alexa, and asking various questions to see how she'll respond. I'm very happy with this purchase!

Ok compared to first generation. Sound is better but not much in way of new features. Screen size a plus but resolution is not great.
