It does a lot more though.

Screen only works 50% of the time, the other half displays random food pictures and ads and cant do anything to make it personalized. The Echo Spot offers less features, but provides what I want to see. Im showing Show to the trash and would not recommend donating it to a friend or family its so embarrassing.

Regarding the screen displaying random food pictures and ads instead of your preferred content, this can often be adjusted through your device settings. Here are a few steps that may help personalize your experience:
Home Content: Go to Settings > Home & Clock > Home Content and toggle off categories you don't want to see, such as "Cooking" or "Things to Try." This should reduce the unwanted food images and suggestions.
Rotate Home Screen Content: You can also select "Personal Photos Only" under Home Content to display just your own photos from Amazon Photos instead of curated content.
Glance Mode: If the screen is cycling through content when idle, go to Settings > Home & Clock and adjust your clock or photo display preferences to keep it focused on what matters to you.
If the screen is only working 50% of the time and these settings don't resolve the issue, this could indicate a hardware or software problem. We'd recommend trying a factory reset by going to Settings > Device Options > Reset to Factory Defaults to rule out any software glitches.

I use them with a blink camera as a baby monitor. They are good. Price is a little high and the screen is small. But if thats what you want then definitely buy these. They can also be combined with the blink doorbell.

Slow response time compared to Echo Dot (3rd Gen)

The Echo Dot (3rd Gen) was much faster to respond and sometimes the Show 5 did not even successfully start the radio station.
