It’s really sad that Amazon has ruined a product by just forcing ads onto consumers regardless of the settings. I pay for Amazon prime, with no ads, and also Amazon Music along with Audible. They’re still forcing me to watch ads for products I could care less about.

Hi! Thank you for sharing your frustration regarding the advertisements on your Echo Show 5. I understand how disappointing it can be to encounter promotional content despite being a subscriber to multiple Amazon services like Prime, Amazon Music, and Audible. There are several ways you can try to manage these display settings. You can start by using voice commands like "Alexa, turn off photo mode" or "Alexa, turn off background rotation" to reduce some promotional content. For more detailed customization, open the Alexa app, navigate to Devices > Echo & Alexa, select your Echo Show 5, and tap on "Home Content" to adjust what appears on your screen. For a simpler display, you can always say "Alexa, show me the clock" to switch to a basic clock face. If you want to completely remove advertising content, you may want to contact Amazon Customer Service at 1-888-280-4331, as some devices offer the option to remove special offers for a one-time fee. While these steps might not fully address your concerns about seeing ads as a Prime member, Amazon Customer Service can provide additional assistance and take note of your feedback regarding device features and content display. Bought this to use as a replacement for my Lenovo Smart Clock. I keep it under my monitor on my desk so I can see the time, play music, etc. The Amazon Show was totally unusable for that purpose. You cant have ONLY a clock on the display. Even if you turn off absolutely everything that it can scroll through, itll STILL pop up ads once every minute or two. Distracting and completely doesn’t fit my use case. Returned it for a refund.

Hello b4yp! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience with your Echo Show 5! We appreciate any and all feedback as we are constantly working to improve upon our products and services to give our customers the best experience possible. While this device may not have been the best fit for what you were looking for in your specific use case, the Echo Spot would be perfect. It is our smart alarm clock and does not have any Alexa Suggestions that pop up like the Show did and still works perfectly as a music speaker! This will always show the clock on the display. I hope this suggestion helps get you to the proper solution for your needs and again we thank you for your time and feedback! Have a terrific day! AmazonDevices

      Hi Caselpad,
Thank you for your feedback. I understand you found the Echo Show 5's size and operation challenging. The 5.5-inch screen is indeed compact by design, as it's meant to fit in smaller spaces like nightstands or desks. However, I'd be happy to help make it easier to use:
For better control, try using voice commands with Alexa rather than relying solely on the touch screen. The device also includes a tutorial in Settings that can help familiarize you with basic operation. AmazonDevices

      Hi RoxanaH,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Echo Show 5. I'm sorry to hear that the touchscreen responsiveness hasn't met your expectations—I understand how frustrating it can be when the touch interface doesn't feel as smooth and responsive as modern smartphones.

The Echo Show 5 is designed primarily for voice interaction with Alexa, but the touchscreen should still be responsive for navigation and settings adjustments. Here are some steps that may help improve the touch experience:

Clean the screen: Fingerprints and smudges can affect touch sensitivity—gently wipe the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth
Restart the device: Unplug the Echo Show 5 for 30 seconds, then plug it back in to refresh the system
Check for updates: Go to Settings > Device Options > Check for Software Updates to ensure you have the latest firmware
Adjust screen brightness: Sometimes auto-brightness can affect touch responsiveness—try manually adjusting it in Settings > Display

If the touchscreen continues to feel unresponsive after trying these steps, please contact our support team at 1-888-280-4331 or through the Amazon app. They can help troubleshoot further or discuss replacement options if there's a hardware issue.

Your feedback about the touch experience is valuable and helps us understand where improvements are needed. Many users find that relying more on voice commands ("Alexa, show me...") provides a smoother experience with the Echo Show 5. AmazonDevices

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. This device has constant glitches and no matter how many times you reboot it, factory reset it, or anything else Amazon support recommends, nothing fixes the horrid software it has installed on it. The performance is slow and laggy due to Amazon cheaping out on the processor, and its constant glitches make it next to unusable. I can’t say I’d recommend googles nest hub either, it’s missing a ton of features and is not as easy to use as the Amazon UI. As of current, there is no suitable Home Assistant device that has a screen, and that performs well. Save your money, buy a regular echo dot, or an echo clock.

[Employee of bestbuy] I wanted to use this essentially as a desktop calendar with additional features as a bonus. Based on the product photos, I thought that was possible but it isn’t. Also, it displays “product recommendations (aka ads) every 15~30seconds, and when you’re not paying attention, it will even display as a notification so you will eventually check. I did not care for that at all.

Hello Avgmillinialhousewife! Thank you so much for providing your feedback and review of your Echo Show 5! While this device does in fact have a number of calendar and reminder options available via voice with Alexa, the Alexa smartphone app, or even in the Settings of the device, it does not have a standalone calendar widget or screen that stays on display. Every other device moving up in size of screen has Alexa Widget functionality (the Show 5 has too small of a screen to take full use of this functionality at this time) which allows for a calendar widget to be displayed in case you were interested in exploring an upgrade. As for the product recommendations, you are also able to limit these quite a bit by navigating to Settings>Home Content and toggling off any of the items you would prefer not to see anymore. You can even customize some of the Display Face by going to Display Settings in the same Settings menu. I do hope this assists in improving your experience some with your device and that you have a terrific day! AmazonDevices

Hi TheDude. Thank you for your feedback on the Echo Show 5. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the device connecting with your Blink Doorbell. Here are some steps to connect your Blink Doorbell with Alexa on the Echo Show 5: Before you enable the Blink SmartHome skill, you must link your Blink and Alexa accounts in the Blink app.

Open the Blink app and tap Settings .
      Tap Account and Privacy .
      Tap Link to Alexa.
      Tap Open Alexa App.
On the Blink SmartHome screen, tap ENABLE TO USE.
On the Link Account screen, enter the email address and password associated with your Blink account. Then, tap Continue.
Enter the verification code sent to the mobile phone number associated with your Blink account. Then, tap Verify Code. If you do not receive a verification code within 2 minutes, tap Resend Code.
Tap Close. Alexa will automatically discover your Blink devices. If Alexa fails to discover your Blink devices automatically, you can connect your devices manually.
After Alexa discovers your Blink devices, you will be asked to create a 4-digit voice code. This code is used to disarm your Blink system. If you do not set up a voice code, you will not be able to use Alexa to disarm your Blink system. Learn more about setting up or changing your Alexa Voice Code. The voice code is also known as a personally identifiable number (PIN).
Now you are ready to monitor your Blink system, hands-free, with Alexa voice commands! If there is anything we can help with, Amazon Customer service is available 24/7 for assistance. You can reach them at 1-888-280-4331. I hope this information helps, have a great day! AmazonDevices
