My son had the echo dot (2nd gen) I thought he would have more use out of this one, but he hates the camera feature and covers it up; I have not used the picture display aspect. the second one I have yet to setup still. I think the Dot (3rd gen) which I have in my room currently and have not swapped out works just fine still. Giving my mom the other to see if she will have more use for it and the other features instead of one of the dots she has currently.

I purchased around 5 nearly in last 2 years for my family friends during holidays. It is also a perfect gift and worth the price for a friend/family you know them well. It serves for long run and they remember you whenever they use this product. I will continue to purchase this to family/friends whenever i think of giving good gift.

The purchase and product pick-up were fluid, and everything went according to plan. The Amazon - Echo Show w/Alexa helps me while I am baking; setting a timer, recipe solutions to substitutions and alternatives. Alexa is my little helper in the kitchen.

The speaker on this device is actually very good and impressive. You’ll have to hear it to believe it. Good buy for me.

I could not connect to the app the only thing I can do is use as an Alexa check weather and use the alarm clock. I bought this for the screen options. I already had an Alexa. So to me I paid $80 for an alarm clock. But it’s a really nice alarm clock.

I'm sorry to hear the device didn't meet your expectations and that you're experiencing connectivity issues with the app. The Echo Show 5 is designed to work seamlessly with the Alexa app for full functionality including screen customization, smart home control, video calling, and content management. If you're unable to connect to the app, try these troubleshooting steps: ensure your Echo Show 5 and smartphone are on the same Wi-Fi network, verify you're using the latest version of the Alexa app, restart both your Echo Show 5 (unplug for 30 seconds) and your smartphone, then attempt setup again by opening the Alexa app and going to Devices > Add Device > Amazon Echo > Echo Show. Once connected, you'll unlock features like customizing the home screen with photos, widgets, and shortcuts, setting up video calling with contacts, controlling smart home devices, accessing Prime Video and other streaming services, and creating custom Routines. If you're still unable to connect after these steps, try resetting the device to factory settings by swiping down from the top, selecting Settings > Device Options > Reset to Factory Defaults, then attempting setup from scratch. I hope these steps help you access the full screen features you purchased the device for.
