Lots of devices can be run by Alexa. Have no real issues. You will need the app to work with the box during setup and adding peripheral devices

It also shuts down out of nowhere and I have to turn it back on the screen. I cannot make brighter. I’ve tried everything tech-support. It won’t go any brighter. It’s awful. I’m so upset. I only had two weeks to return it and now I’m stuck with it.

We'd like to help you troubleshoot a few things that may resolve these issues:
Random shutdowns and music playing: This can sometimes be caused by an unintended Alexa trigger or a software glitch. Try performing a factory reset by going to Settings > Device Options > Reset to Factory Defaults. This often resolves persistent software-related issues.
Screen brightness: Go to Settings > Display > Brightness and make sure Adaptive Brightness is turned off, then manually adjust the slider to your preferred level. Adaptive Brightness can sometimes keep the display dimmer than expected based on ambient light.
Software update: Ensure your device is running the latest software by going to Settings > Device Options > Check for Software Updates.

I am gifting it to my girlfriend's daughter because they have a cat. It's easier to keep track of your lovable feline on the echo than searching for your phone.

We are constantly working to improve upon our products and services from feedback like yours to provide the best customer experience. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying your device so far. One thing you can do to limit content that you do not want to see on your device's home screen is to swipe down from the top and navigate to Settings>Home Content and then toggle on or off any categories you would like or not like to see anymore. You can also go to your Display settings or Notification settings and customize those options as well. These are just a few tips you could try to hopefully improve upon your experience some.
