Posted .Hi TheDude. Thank you for your feedback on the Echo Show 5. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the device connecting with your Blink Doorbell. Here are some steps to connect your Blink Doorbell with Alexa on the Echo Show 5: Before you enable the Blink SmartHome skill, you must link your Blink and Alexa accounts in the Blink app.
Open the Blink app and tap Settings .
Tap Account and Privacy .
Tap Link to Alexa.
Tap Open Alexa App.
On the Blink SmartHome screen, tap ENABLE TO USE.
On the Link Account screen, enter the email address and password associated with your Blink account. Then, tap Continue.
Enter the verification code sent to the mobile phone number associated with your Blink account. Then, tap Verify Code. If you do not receive a verification code within 2 minutes, tap Resend Code.
Tap Close. Alexa will automatically discover your Blink devices. If Alexa fails to discover your Blink devices automatically, you can connect your devices manually.
After Alexa discovers your Blink devices, you will be asked to create a 4-digit voice code. This code is used to disarm your Blink system. If you do not set up a voice code, you will not be able to use Alexa to disarm your Blink system. Learn more about setting up or changing your Alexa Voice Code. The voice code is also known as a personally identifiable number (PIN).
Now you are ready to monitor your Blink system, hands-free, with Alexa voice commands! If there is anything we can help with, Amazon Customer service is available 24/7 for assistance. You can reach them at 1-888-280-4331. I hope this information helps, have a great day!

It's like a Echo Dot with screen but better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Amazon Echo Show and I’m glad to finally make the move. I have a few Echo Dot’s of different generations so adding this to that group makes everything flow nicely. I am keeping this in the kitchen for now but considering getting a larger screen for the kitchen and brining this to my home office. It was very easy to set up and it was recognized by the app and I could start using it within minutes. It’s great to be able to communicate with Echo Dot’s in the house on each floor. It’s the size a small alarm clock and my Galaxy phone. You have option of turning off the microphone and camera when you want. Of course, we know you can listen to music from different apps on this just like the Echo Dot. But having this small screen is great. I also love it for looking at recipes. And a great way to start the day, it will play the weather, the news and my music each morning. It makes some daily tasks very convenient, which I use regularly for setting alarms, timers, reminders and even my shopping list! The sound levels is great too. The one negative thing I notice so far is the notification announcement each time the Ipad connects and disconnects. I imagine there’s a way to turn this off and just haven’t figured it out yet. Another great feature about this is the camera feature that I can also use as a security camera and talk to whoever is in the room or just see what’s happening around and check up on the dog if he’s left alone for a short time. What I like most about this camera option is that it sends a message to Echo Show saying that a household member is using your camera and you can choose to stop it if you need privacy. You can also turn off the camera and you’ll see that message that it’s off until you slide the switch back on. Overall, it works great for our family.

A step forward, a step back
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always been a fan of Amazon's products and was an early adopter when smart speakers first launched. I've used a variety of different Amazon devices - Echo Dots, Echo Shows, etc. The Amazon Echo Show 5 3-generation kind of perplexed me. First, I should mention our household is definitely oversaturated with smart -- well, smart everything. I'm a techie and proud of it. This 3rd Gen Echo Show replaced an Echo Dot with Clock in my house's family room. Pros: - The screen is very bright, clear, and brightens/dims quickly as lighting changes, but much than the other two Echo Shows we have in the house. - Setup is a breeze as with almost all Amazon devices - The speaker sound is rich with deep bass and outstanding tone (especially when paired with other Echos around the house). Cons: Here is where this device leaves me somewhat perplexed. The sound is great as I mentioned in the pros. However, we have all our Echo devices with the start prompt and follow-up mode turned on all the time as one of my family members is hard of hearing and this helps him know when the device is listening (the little chime Echo makes when you say, "Alexa" along with the chime for follow-up). So...here is why I am perplexed. Even my *original* Echo can hear me better than this 3rd Gen Show. I have tried moving it to several different locations throughout the house and the experience is consistent. There is about a 2-3 second delay between saying "Alexa" and the chime to let you know you've activated. One thing to note - even though the chime is delayed somewhat, if you don't wait for it and just talked to Alexa in normal speech pattern, the device does respond but often chops off the beginning of the request. I hope this is a firmware or software bug - I've gone through all the settings for sensitivity, etc., and everything is set at max. Hopefully this can either be fixed with a software/firmware update.

Posted .Hello user175912! Here are some hearing accessibility options for the Echo Show 5. 1. Closed Captioning converts the audio content of a video broadcast into text. You can customize text on supported video content. 2. Alexa Captions displays captions for Alexa's responses. 3. Real Time Text (RTT) creates a live chat feed during an Alexa call or Drop In on Echo Show. You can send text messages that appear on all devices during the call or Drop In. 4. Calling and Messaging Without Speech shows contacts and transcripts of messages with a touch screen feature. 5. Call Captioning shows real-time captions for Alexa calls on supported Alexa devices. Call Captioning is available in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Hope this helps and if you need additional help, feel free to chat with Amazon customer service. Have a great day!

Decent smart screen some great features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.• The Amazon Echo Show 5 3rd generation is a smart display with a 5.5-inch touchscreen. It is the smallest Echo Show device, but it still packs a lot of features. It can be used to make video calls, control smart home devices, watch videos, listen to music, and more. The Echo Show 5 3rd generation has a few new features over the previous generation. The most notable is the improved speaker quality. The new speaker delivers clearer vocals and deeper bass for a more dynamic audio experience. The Echo Show 5 3rd generation also has a new design with rounded corners and a fabric covering. It is powered by Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. It has a 5.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. It has a 2MP front-facing camera. It has a 1.75-inch speaker. It is compatible with Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). It measures 4.8 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches and weighs 12.9 ounces. Here are some of the pros and cons of the Amazon Echo Show 5 3rd generation: Pros: • Small and affordable • Improved speaker quality • New design with rounded corners and fabric covering • Can make video calls, control smart home devices, watch videos, listen to music, get news and weather, set alarms and timers, and create routines Cons: • The screen is small • The camera is not as good as some other smart displays Overall, the Amazon Echo Show 5 3rd generation is a great choice for anyone looking for a small, affordable smart display with a lot of features. If you are looking for a larger smart display with a better camera and longer battery life, then you may want to consider a different model. However, if you are looking for a basic smart display that can do the basics well, then the Echo Show 5 3rd generation is a great option.

Great for Amazon users, needs more option settings
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this is my first Echo Show device, I have several Echo dot devices around my house. I also have a Google Home Hub and a lot of smart home features. The Echo Show 5 is somewhat small at 3.3" tall 5.75" wide and a bit over 3" deep. It has one port for the power connector (barrel style). The included wall power adapter outputs 22W. For physical buttons, there is a mute button, volume + and - buttons and a physical camera privacy shutter. The camera is in the upper right, off the corner in the bezel. What's nice is that the privacy shutter is white so there isn't a question if the shutter is on or off. The screen is very sharp and has a good amount of contrast. Pictures really pop on the display. The screen is about 5.25" diagonally which leads to about 0.44" bezel all around. I would like the screen to have an oleophobic coating so that there aren't as many fingerprints left behind, but with the screen on, you really don't see them. The screen feels nice to the touch. Initial setup was somewhat quick, but there are lots of settings menus that will take a while to fine tune to your tastes. At first, I didn't like the Echo Show device because it would advertise too many features. I eventually found that if you go to Settings -> Home & Clock -> Home Content, you can shut off a lot of content advertisements like "Alexa Games", "Discovery", or "Popular Recipes". Now my Home screen rotates through maybe 3 different topics but I can add more when I wish and not get inundated with different screens. As a smart home control hub, I like the Echo Show 5. It pulled up all my switches, plugs, cameras, thermostats and the groups that I set up. But I would like a way to re-organize some of the groupings by room or floor. Within the settings, I chose a comfortable clock face. However, I have found that when I use the Art or Travel photo gallery for my Home screen, it defaults to a 'bold hour' style clock and I can't seem to change that. That may part of a future update, but I was disappointed I couldn't match the clock style I wanted. I found that switching functions is really rather slow. Swiping down on the screen, I am waiting a half second before it brings down the menu. Switching to another function like from Home to Smart Home, it takes about a second for the screen to blank and then pull up the Smart Home interface. When using the mute button, the bottom border of the screen turns red, an icon in the upper right shows you are muted and the mute button lights up red. I think that's somewhat overkill. I actually like how the Google Home Hub handled mute better. With an LED light turning orange so it isn't taking away from what's on the screen. I tried "Night Mode" and found I didn't prefer it. You can set the night mode hours and it will automatically cut out the background picture and give you clock, date and temp. Then the display dims and gives you a clock with large blue numbers, then after a couple minutes the number style changes to red for the rest of the night if you don't disturb the screen. I would like to get rid of the red numbers and just have the screen shut off, but I couldn't find that option. With the rotating Home Content, I think I will probably leave this Echo Show 5 in one of my activity areas like my kitchen, office, or hobby area. I cannot see it moving to replace my Google Home Hub on my night stand. I would really like the ability to change some more of its settings and hope that comes in a near system update. However, this is a great device if you're heavily invested in the Amazon ecosystem.

Posted .Hello VeronicaC! I am terribly sorry that your Show 5 stopped working after 9 months. There are a few things I would recommend to try to hopefully get you back to enjoying your product. If you have tried restarting it already and it does not show anything but a back screen, you can try to factory reset it. You can do this by pressing and holding both the volume down button and the mute button for a full 30 second count. If it restarts and goes to the Amazon logo, then this will allow you to set it back up again. You can also unplug it and with both of the same buttons pressed and held, you can plug it back in. Keep holding the buttons until you see the Amazon logo come up. If this doesn't fix the problem for you, I would recommend contacting Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further and to explore what options are available to you. I do hope these tips help some and that you have an amazing day!

Posted .Hello, JimG. I am sorry to hear about the experience you are having with the Echo Show 5. I have some recommendations to try and get the device working again. First, I recommend restarting the device. Unplug the power adapter from the device or outlet and wait 30 seconds. Plug the device back in and see if it turns on. If a restart doesn't get the device to power on, I recommend completing a factory reset. To complete a factory reset, you will want to press and hold the mute and volume down buttons until you see the Amazon logo appear on the screen. If these steps don't help and you're still experiencing this issue, I recommend reaching out to Amazon Customer Support 24/7 at 1-888-280-4331. I hope these steps are helpful. Have a great day!
