Hoping to exchange for the 8 and maybe it has a better processor for the results I seek.

If your device set up uses the Alexa app, please check that you have the latest version of the app. 3. Restart your Echo device-Unplug it from power, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. 4. If none of these steps help or if you are having problems registering the device, reset your Echo device to clear up most issues. If you are still having issues with the functionality of the Echo Show 5, Amazon Customer service is available 24/7 for assistance on the device. You can reach them at 1-888-280-4331. If I make any noise itll suddenly jump up in volune, then it hears itself being noisy and becomes even louder. Not a fan. I set the volume for a reason. If I wanted to be in a screaming match with my alexa I would raise the volume myself.

I am sorry to hear you were having trouble with the volume on your Echo Show 5. To turn off the dynamic volume (often referred to as Adaptive Volume) on your Echo Show 5, you'll need to use the Alexa app.
Here's how:
-Open the Alexa app.
-Tap "More" at the bottom of the screen.
-Tap "Settings."
-Under "Alexa Preferences," tap "Voice Responses."
-Toggle the "Adaptive Volume" option off. You'll see a toggle switch to the left of the option when it's off.
