I am sure there must be more things that can be done with it. But this works welll for my uses. Audio is good as well

While the Echo Show 5 is designed to be much more than a clock with photos, I completely understand your frustration when the device isn't performing its smart features reliably.
Here are a few additional steps that might help if you haven't tried them already:
Check for system updates in Settings > Device Options > System Updates
Verify your Wi-Fi connection strength and consider moving the device closer to your router
Ensure your router firmware is up to date as network issues can cause significant lag
However, given that you've already performed multiple factory resets without resolution, I strongly recommend contacting Amazon Customer Service at 1-888-280-4331 or through your Amazon account. They can run diagnostics on your device and likely arrange a replacement, as this level of persistent performance issues on a new device isn't normal and suggests a defective unit.

I have them all, and this one I would return if I could. I haven't been able to find how to keep the clock display on all night. The screen goes dark and will not come back on unless you swipe down . You are unable to see what time it is in the middle of the night unless you physically touch it. The alarm is too loud. I haven't yet figured out how to regulate the alarm sound. It has way too many ads. I had the previous version and love it. I would not recommend this version!

Posted .Hi DeeDee! I am sorry to hear about the issues you are facing with your Echo Show 5 device. Please try these troubleshooting steps to see if it fixes the issues you are running into. 1. Go to settings on the device. 2. Select clock and photo display. 3. Select night mode. 4. From here, you can schedule specific times you want the device in night mode. This will ensure the device is in night mode for however long you want it to be. As far as the alarm being loud, try these steps to adjust the volume of the alarm. 1. Open the Alexa app. 2. Open More and select Alarms & Timers. 3. On the Alarms tab, select Settings. 4. Use the volume slider to turn the volume up or down. To remove unwanted ads, swipe down on your screen, click Settings > Home and Clock > Home Content. Disable the content that you no longer wish to see rotating on your home screen. Otherwise you’re staring at the upper 3/4 of the wall and cieling.

I keep it in my office for all the uses that I would use an audio only echo. In addition the screen provides access to video for example checking security cameras. Price is reasonable and Best Buy did a great job with prompt delivery.
