My review is lower than some because the main feature I bought this for, is actually the WORST feature of the Echo Show 5. I bought this for video chatting in my office with coworkers, mainly, with some video chatting with family. While it does do very well as a side clock and for many normal "Alexa tasks", a design flaw makes it very irritating for video calls. Note: On the ten inch Echo Show, and the small round Echo Spot, the web cams are placed right above their screens in the CENTER of the device. Not so with the Echo Show 5 - if you look, the web cam is on the upper-right of the device. Now, as small as this is, you would think this makes little difference, but when you are actually making a video call, the shift of the web cam location makes it appear to the person on the other end as though you are sitting on the left side of the camera (not centered). You can easily see this in the self-view in the upper right during a call (see included photo). So, you have to turn the whole device about 30 degrees in order for you to appear centered to the other party, but of course then, you are having to look at the device at an angle. VERY odd. Everyone I've tested it out on so far has commented on it. In terms of using it as a clock, it's just fine (though expensive just for a clock). The mics are fine and pick up your voice well for other Alexa commands. The speaker is only ok, but good enough for casual use. The screen though lower in resolution is ok for a device this small, though (note there is no youtube app in it however - you have to open a web browser on it to watch youtube videos). Again however, my review is based mostly on it's poor camera placement causing video calling to be poorly done and since that is my main reason for using it, that's the reason for the "fair" rating. One last side note: There was a problem during installation where the Show 5 had to do some updates and got stuck in the "Loading" screen for 45 minutes. I called Amazon tech support who confirmed this was not normal and even after trying every step they could think of, it kept doing it. They were about to send me a new unit, saying this was defective, but on my own, I unplugged it, and then the moment it started coming back up, it kept swiping my finger from the top of the screen, down (to bring up a menu)... after two attempts this did take the unit back to a pre-updating state, THEN it updated correctly, etc. Just something to try if yours gets stuck. Conclusion: If you have zero interest in video chatting with this, your rating and opinion with this will no doubt be higher, as the other functions seem to work fine. But if using it for video calls is at all important to you, I'd suggest buying the larger 10 inch Echo Show, or if you can handle a tiny screen, the small round Echo Dot.

I love this. Was going to get the dot but the screen is a great feature and the camera for talking and seeing the person that you are talking to.

I’m really enjoying the Alexa show 5. The sound quality is great. The Amazon Echo Show 5 is the best and Newest Artificial Intelligence device. As we are all dealing with issues due to the coronavirus most of us have been Home. The Echo show 5 does more than tell you the weather, time, etc. The intelligence Device learn you as you learn it. Alexa will start to recognize your voice and Your daily routines such as The route to your job or destination and if there is traffic, Wake you up at your set time, Alexa also Offer hand free Calls That's right just Say "Alexa make a Call " And You would Say the Number or Contact .

I love the Amazon Echo Show 5! It's small but still large enough to see what's on the screen clearly. The sound is great and the volume is loud enough to fill a room...

This Echo Show 5 replaces an ancient clock radio. It has all the features of the other Echoes but with a smaller screen. The sound is surprisingly good for such a tiny device. Very pleased.

I use this as an alarm clock and to play relaxing sounds. It can do many other things just haven’t gotten around to figuring it all out. Works great. Have never had an issue.

I have two of them, one in my room and one in my sons room. I love that I can call him and see him if I need to. I use it as my alarm clock, play music and search the internet.

The unit works as my alarm clock. You can use the alexa app or program the alarms from the alexa device. Nice feature is the clock shows the next alarm on the top right of the screen which includes when the alarm is snoozed. The device is always on but switches to a blue filter mode and super dim at night, 15 minutes before the alarm is scheduled the screen gradually gets brighter to simulate the sun rising. The one complaint I have is turning the alarm off, you must swipe up from the bottom or it always goes to snooze. This is a full echo show device so it can be used to play videos and music or it has slides to present facts or news articles and weather alerts. Sound quality is pretty good for a smaller device. Unit has a camera but has a physical block the covers the lens and disables the camera when covered.

The 5" Amazon Echo Show is great. It has a good picture, excellent sound and takes up very little space. I liked it so much that we bought several of the 8" Echo Shows.

Bought this to work with my ring doorbell. I got the smaller one to keep back in the bedroom so I can see who is at the door from from there. Works great and easy to install.

I use this as an alarm for when I wake up. It really is great. It is also great for playing music and weather. It’s really a great purchase and helps me feel organized as well.

Got this free with a Ring alarm and it does make it easy to use your voice to arm and disarm the alarm. The screen is nice when you want Alexa to show your cameras. As far as Alexa goes she and I are still working out commands. Need more time to figure what and how to say it.

I absolutely love my Amazon Echo. The display is large enough to see across a large room but not overpowering. The sound that comes from this little Echo is very impressive. Friends and family cannot believe the quality of sound when they come over to visit. The sound is just as good, if not better, than our Altec bluetooth waterproof speaker we use for the pool. I like how you can change the background and turn off certain displays and mute it. There are so many different settings you can use and the possibilities of things you can do are endless. I am actually going to be getting one for our family room and eventually some for gifts.

We use more google eco system in our house but alexa has more skills and we need it for our video cameras and for the price is very good, sound quality is awesome for the size.

Wife loves this Echo Show 5. Not only does she have more space on her night stand, but also can link her pictures to it to stream her pictures and choose her background. Recommend.

Great little Amazon Echo unit, size is just right for the master bedroom, sound is good, clock is visible from across the room, relaxing music or ambient sounds like thunder storms, or rain on a tin roof, gently lulls you to sleep, also shows weather when I get up, to plan my day.

I have bought 2 of this model and I absolutely love it. Great speaker, nice big screen, an option to close the lense. Everything handy in one device.

This first gen Echo Show 5 is better than gen 2 simply beacuse it has Audio Output unlike gen 2. And basically both Show 5s run on same processor always makes this a winner. I also notice the smaller screen of this Show 5 is quite satisfactory unless you want photos as screen savers. You wont regret going for gen 1, it has a plus ahead of gen 2 in terms of amplifying the sound your place. And a number of my Echo Show 5s has been working for some years now without fail.

Vivid visuals with a crisp clean sound. Great size! Compact design fits anywhere in the home. Easy to connect with Video calling and messaging. It's just great entertainment at a glance.

This is a great way to be able to see as well as talk to Alexa and receive information. So much better than just the speaker. The speaker is good but this is better
