Even after recalibrating it to learn my voice through the Alexa app, changing the wake word ("Alexa," "Echo,"), and moving it to a different place on my desk, it still takes multiple utterances to wake it. Luckily it has a touchscreen so that I can play news stories it presents and open up YouTube without having to use my voice.
