    The device rarely recognizes when I'm speaking to it. Even after recalibrating it to learn my voice through the Alexa app, changing the wake word ("Alexa," "Echo,"), and moving it to a different place on my desk, it still takes multiple utterances to wake it. Luckily it has a touchscreen so that I can play news stories it presents and open up YouTube without having to use my voice.
