I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you had while trying to set up Netflix on your device, lets try a few troubleshooting steps:
Make sure the Echo Show 8 and the Netflix app are updated to the latest version,
Please go to settings> Device Options>and Check Update. Once the latest software has been installed please login to the Netflix app and it should work as expected. Once done, follow the steps below: Connect the home screen
1. Swipe from the home screen and select video. 2. in the video tab, select the Netflix icon. 3. Select Member sign in (enter your Netflix credentials)

Then it started having issues where "Nighttime mode" would not kick in, alarm setting would take forever to load/disable. Clearly the hardware is failing in my unit sadly just after a couple months.
