Got this on sale for $64.99 and it's a steal!! I have several echo dots and this is my first echo show. Here is how I benefited: 1) It shows current date, time, weather and forecast. This may not be important to some but for my wife and I, we are somehow addicted to seeing current weather and forecast. 2) It is now my digital picture frame. I am a Amazon Prime member and as a Prime member, you can store unlimited photos at full resolution to Amazon Photos. Echo Show picks the photos from there and you can let it choose or create specific photos or albums. 3) Integration with Ring Doorbell - when motion is detected or door bell is pressed, all I need to do is "Echo, show me <name of your ring devices" and it opens. I can also communicate with the person directly through echo. 4) Drop-in - not a big fan because of privacy reasons, but I can say drop-in to this echo show, and I can see what's going on through its camera. I suggest turning it off and perhaps turn it on when the family is on vacation and you can use this as a camera to view whatever you want to see. 5) Sound - pretty impressive but I am not picky. Better than echo dot 3rd generation with tighter and boomier bass. When I play music through all my echo devices, I have to lower the volume on the Show to "balance" it better. It could be because of my placement. Overall, pretty impressive and highly recommend this especially if it's on sale!!

This device is limited in its capabilities. It does not do many smart things apart from telling you the weather, setting timers/alarms, and controlling smart devices. Furthermore, Alexa hardly ever answers a question with relevant answers and misunderstands almost everyone who speaks to her. The speaker within the device is impressive, and the ability to video chat is great for a dog owner who likes remotely checking in on their pup. The device sits on an angle, though, so the camera points at the ceiling unless you tilt the device down or purchase the additional stand (clever design to force us to purchase more products, I guess). Not really that impressed, and definitely would have returned it if I had paid full price.

The speaker is amazing compared to my previous device - the Echo Dot. Alexa's voice isn't so high-pitched because of the bass, and songs sounds great! The touch screen is nice. I appreciate the video calling, but I need to buy the stand separately, so the video doesn't face the ceiling. The stand will make it so I can tilt the camera so people can see me in the kitchen.

Easy set up. Great sound and stylish for our living room. Just wish you could drop in on more then one friend. Purchased so could with friends and family with covid-19 causing us to social distance. Great price with it 50% off for Christmas.

I like having this to listen to music. Look at recipes while cooking, it’s like a little computer!

This is an Excellent upgrade to our current Amazon Alexa show. The sound quality is much improved the screen it’s a lot larger than the original echo show and much clearer. The only thing to keep in mind is the footprint of this device is a lot wider than you’d expect. The pictures make it seem like it’s this thin flatscreen, but in reality it’s the size of a small home theater speaker with an 8” touchscreen attached to the front. Besides the larger than expected size it’s exceeded all of our expectations.

I love my new Echo Show 8, easy to setup and use, I live the ability to video call the sound is amazing. Two thumbs up

I've had the Echo Show 8 on the same counter as a Google assistant with a comparable size screen for over a year now. My preference wasn't this unit at first, probably because I was accustomed to using other Googlers, but I definitely prefer this now. The sound is surprisingly good, especially when using Amazon music. Google devices refuse to use that service. Nice that it plays Prime Video and other services too!

The sound from this unit sounds like a much larger speaker. Full rich sound. Clear highs and punchy bass. If you listen to rock, pop, and jazz, this unit is for you. If you have a ring doorbell, it even better because it will show you who is at the door. If you listen to R&B, and Rap music, the echo sub would be recommended. This speaker screen is easy to pair with others for stereo pair or music scenes like party mode. I have not found any real complaints about the product. Excellent value at $89.

Does everything that an Alexa can do plus more. If you want to listen to music, it will show you the lyrics while you listen to the music. If you hear something going on in the news, it’ll show you videos about the event. If you want to learn a language, it’ll show you how to pronounce words. It’s basically a live search engine for everything posted online. As for the cons, the only thing that I can think about is that the big screen will light up your entire bedroom even while in sleep mode so be aware of this (for those of us who like to sleep in a very dark room). Also, Alexa may ask for your contacts from your phone so as to call anyone from your list when you ask it to, which may seem a bit invasive, not to mention that your voice print may be stored in Amazon’s cloud.

Love this device for the quality of the screen views and how easily it sets up. The sound isn’t bad either. I listen to some international stations, XM, podcasts, and even Watch some of their old, old nostalgic programs. Just the right size for my kitchen counter. Not sure that I would care for the 10 inch unit in a kitchen with my television. Called placed hands-free are clear and it has come in handy more than once to locate my phone.

I am SO PLEASED that I purchased two of these!!! I did not realize that the Echo Show could do so many things. We already have an Echo Dot, but this plays music, is used with a Blink camera to watch the baby, shows videos, lets us "drop in" video chat with our family through their Echo Shows. I purchased another for my daughter. She uses it for all recipes and all kinds of things.

Got this for my aging (body and mind) grandparents so they could video chat my child and keep up with reminders. They seem to love it, the size is great and the price of this device is great. I have the show 2, show 5, echo and several echo dots. They all function well but this was probably the best value. Pre ordering was easy as well.

Love this, got it for the kitchen. Nice to listen to music, watch a video, or see a recipe while cooking.

Perfect size just what we needed for our spare room/office

You just can not beat the deal from Best Buy really good ! Echo show 8 has larger screen than Echo Show 5, better sound, and it start to work with Ring protection to guard against home by listening to glass break, or CO detector etc... tons of good stuff from it, I love it. However the drop in feature could have more room for improvement, if you have multiple devices at home, the drop in will pick the Echo device closest to you ( actually your cell phone) that could be scary.

Love the the Echo Show 8” Smart Display with Alexa......... I have this in my kitchen.......great for pulling up recipes while cooking.......Looks nice on the Kitchen Counter. Kitchen Is a focal point in our home so this is also used for Music, turning on lights, listening to sports, display has my personal pics on the screen......... and the list can go on

After having an echo show I bought this echo show 8 for my son room and he loves it. Yes he used a tablet but the echo show 8 make it convenient to catch simple info instead of grabbing your tablet to power on or find its needs recharging. The echo show has him to asking simple questions such as certain recipes or what a particular insect looks like. What the weather today , what is 2000 plus 98, ect what ever he asked echo may have the answers. Some people don’t like the news info or stories but I seem to like it because gets my attention. The sound quality of the show 8 is good enough for his room and just asked Alexa to play top 100 hits. I have connected security cameras such as Blink and Ring through Alexa which is great. Just ask Alexa show me drive way or front door and I can view. I would recommend this product.
