Smart device yes, is it easy to set things up like routines and such not so much. If you have patience it can be done and works well. Overall i like this better than it's competitors as it scrolls the weather continuosly for the day and that was one of the main reasons i bought this

This Echo show is fantastic and does a lot of things along with Amazon and Alexa that I probably haven't even figured out all it can do.
