I bought this to replace the 1st generation tower. The old worked, it just would stop playing music or whatever I was listening to for no reason. Called the help tech at Amazon to have it fixed, because it was old, they could not reset it, and stopped working completely. I sort of mad, but then who doesn't like to get a new toy and Best Buy was having a great sale. For some reason, this one does not work as well. For example, I will be standing right over it & ask it a question and my Ecobee thermostat, which is probably 50 to 60 feet away and down a hallway, will answer. I will say the 4th generation does have better sound and it is cool to have the screen, however for everyday use it doesn't work as well as the 1st generation.

Great Amazon show. I used to own a 5” show but the 8” is a lot better, great sounds and bigger screen. I placed this in our kitchen.

Upgraded from the original echo shows. An upgrade in every way: snappier response when interacting, bigger screen, and nicer speakers

I have 2 echo 5 and added 2 echo 8 with stands. Looks great and very handy. I look at my security cameras and play music any room. Very impressed

I use this everyday in my office to get caught up on daily news, listen to music, get Amazon updates and weather.

Really good i will recommend the echo 8 to anyone. Really good to listen music in the kitchen and also to search for recipes.

I purchased this unit to replace the Amazon - Echo Show 5 Smart Display with Alexa - Charcoal to give it a try and I loved it so much I bought the larger Amazon - Echo Show 8 with Alexa - Charcoal. I replaced my old clock radio that I had to manually set for the weekends with Alexia and couldn't be happier. I hope to buy the Amazon - Echo Show (2nd Gen) - Smart Speaker with Alexa and built in smart home Hub - Charcoal when it goes on sales hopefully this year. The sound quality is amazing, much better than I thought it would be. You can't go wrong, buy it.

Simple and easy setup process and the screen size is just great. Does exactly what it says and just works great. Volume and display is just wonderful.

Works great! It shows the lyrics to the songs if you want it to. You can also watch movies on it. Has a good sounding speaker also

This device has a nice size screen and sounds great. Neing able to watch videos and movies on this device is a bonus. Easy to setup.

The sound quality is excellent. We just bought a printer that is compatible with Alexa. We were able to print off our grocery list that I had created by using Alexa. With the Alexa app on my phone I was able to then have the list printed. If you don't want to print it off you can have Alexa create a grocery list which will appear on your phone. As you shop you can mark off the items on your grocery list. Another thing I like is; I told Alexa to remind me of my appointment, to take my medicine, and alert us to any bad weather. My husband has been able to talk and see his mother that is in quarantine. We're still learning the features that Alexa has to offer. I didn't give it 5 stars because 3 different times it had to be unplugged due to being stuck and not able to move on. Unplugged and plugged back in fixed the problem.

You need one of these and echo with video and great speaker . Works great rad set up nice sized screen !!!

Inexpensive speakers/touch screen interface in the Echo/Alexa/Ring family. The ready made skills are nice but I think more than 99% out of the thousands skills available are a waste of time and computing power. AI is in it's infancy, it works well with the main skills developed by Amazon but is iffy for real full proof automations applications. There are still a lot of constructions and limitations imposed by Amazon in the dev platform. This is a critique of the dev platform, the Echo screen is perfect.

The echo spot, which I believe is no longer sold, gave one that traditional, but digital presence. I use the Show 8 as a bed room clock as clock in my bedroom and I could also visually answer the door, view my security cameras, turn off the lights, and other integrations. The speakers are improved over the Show 5, the display is pretty good, and it has more mics for listening in. Overall, I didn't view or hold the Show to the specifications. I measure the Show on what I can accomplish with it... Echo has a large reach with other appliances and devices. J

We love the Echo show 8. We use it all the time for games, trivia, music and video calling. The visual screen is clear and the sound is good.
