Several factors can affect the Echo Spot's response speed including Wi-Fi connection strength and stability, as weak or inconsistent signals can delay communication between the device and Alexa's cloud servers, the number of smart home devices or routines connected to your Alexa account which can impact processing time, background software updates that may temporarily slow performance, and the device's placement in relation to your router or potential interference from other electronics. To improve response times, ensure your Echo Spot has a strong Wi-Fi connection by moving it closer to your router or reducing obstacles between them, restart the device by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in to clear temporary processing issues, check for pending software updates in the Alexa app under Device Settings to ensure you're running the latest firmware, and reduce the number of active skills or routines if you have many enabled, as this can streamline processing. I like that you can tap it to snooze and turn on do not disturb the hours you want. I already have two echo dots and an Alexa show and this has not disappointed.

However, if you are playing music while sleeping the clock shrinks to a tiny size above the name and picture of what is playing. It simply will not display the clock full size and play music at the same time. yuk.

When media is playing, the display prioritizes showing the "Now Playing" screen — which includes album art, song title, and artist name — and reduces the clock to a small element at the top of the screen. For a device marketed as a "smart alarm clock," this understandably falls short of expectations for customers who want to glance over and see the time while drifting off to sleep with music.
Here are some options that may help improve your experience:
Using the Echo Spot as a Clock While Playing Music
Try saying "Alexa, go home" or "Alexa, show the clock" after starting your music. On some Echo devices with screens, this can return the display to the home/clock screen while music continues to play in the background. The clock should then display at full size while your music keeps playing.
You can also swipe down on the Echo Spot screen and tap the home icon to navigate back to the clock face while music continues.
Consider using sleep sounds or ambient noise skills (e.g., "Alexa, play rain sounds") instead of music — some ambient sound skills may behave differently with the display and allow the clock to remain prominent.
Customizing Your Clock Face
The Echo Spot offers multiple clock face designs that you can personalize. Say "Alexa, change the clock face" or go to Device Settings > Clock Face in the Alexa app to choose a design that displays the time most prominently.
Setting a Sleep Timer
If you enjoy falling asleep to music, try saying "Alexa, set a sleep timer for 30 minutes." This will automatically stop the music after the set time, returning the display to the full-size clock for the rest of the night.
