Affordable Bass. Terrible Sound.

Tested in both a smaller 14' x 12' x 8' living room, as well as a larger 22' x 13' x 10' lofted living room. With both spatial sound (upward firing speakers) and standard stereo sound music was bass-heavy, hollow-sounding, and lacking in stereo separation one would expect, particularly for speakers with multiple speakers firing in different directions. Compared to the stereo HomePods these the Studios sounded like walkie-talkies: no comparison. Compared to a single test Sonos:One sound was equally hollow and lacking in depth. Sure, both Sonos and HomePods are premium speakers, but given the positioning of the Echo Studios as being the premium variant of the Echo line I really expected more than the what they delivered. Even my pair of Echo Plus' in stereo pair sounded better than the Studios. While sufficient for someone graduating from a baseline Echo Dot, anyone expecting bigger, room-filling sound from these beasts are best to keep looking elsewhere. Even at $150/each on sale, I ended up returning for a full refund.

Ok sound but not for normal music

Set up with the optional subwoofer was rather challenging.

Overall a bland experience

Overall If you weren’t space limited you should get a pair of bookcase speakers instead if you don’t need Alexa.
