It must be towards a wall but best in a corner even if it is far away. It is not hifi but for talk and game play, it is amazing.

Specifically to use on our deck in the summer. Was easy to set up as all others were. For as small as it is, it creates an output similar to surround sound without other speakers. I would say the quality is as good as any Bose speaker I've heard at the same size. The other benefit is that it configures itself to the environment, but also gives you an equalizer on the app to adjust to your own liking. Now Alexa can join us on the deck. To clarify, this is not an outdoor speaker and shouldn't be left out in the weather. I will be bringing it in at night, but it only takes a minute or so to reconnect after initial setup, just as if the power went out. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Like that Alexa is a part of the speaker. The only drawback is the size. It's a little too big to place in a spot where it doesn't stand out.
