This was my second echo. I loved the first one so much that I got a second one for another room in the house. I bought this on sale, right before the 2nd generation came out. At the lower price, it was well worth it.

Love the voice control and functions. Need to download more apps. Want to purchase the lights to go with it. Never talks back to you.

I bought my Echo when it first came out. I Love It! It made a very nice Christmas gift. My mother was thrilled. I thought I knew a lot of things to ask it but she has me beat already. She lives alone and loves having it "talk to her". She's hooked up her lights to it (by herself) and loves that she can have the lights turned on before she heads downstairs. I don't walk out the door without asking Alexa the weather for the day. It's a fun thing to play around with stupid questions, she has quite the sense of humor!

Disappointed. While it’s cool looking, truth is we find it to be pretty unintelligent. And beware, unless you have subscriptions to pandora and Spotify that you pay for, it does even less. It can be fun-but I’m finding the things you can do with it to be far more limited than I assumed. Still cool for sure though.

I bought this for a family member who has very limited use of her hands due to a spinal cord injury. She lives in a nursing facility. My hope was that she could enjoy her favorite music and listen to broadcasts of her favorite sports team simply by speaking to the Echo/Alexa device. My big concern was that she would not be able to use the voice commands due to her weak voice. Happily, I can report that she loves it and is able to successfully use the voice commands. We have it sitting on her night stand about two feet next to her. And I know that she loves it not only because she tells me but because I can see, using the Alexa app on my smartphone, each and every time she interacts with the device throughout the day. I can even listen to the audio of each of her interactions with the device. And I am not exaggerating when I say that she often interacts with Alexa/Echo over 100 times throughout the day! So far, she uses Alexa/Echo to listen to her favorite music through my Prime Music subscription. We recently purchased a few songs that she couldn't find in Prime Music. She also often asks it to tell her a joke and check the weather outside. She says the staff at the nursing facility where she lives seem to be amazed by the device as well and she often demonstrates its capabilities asking it to tell her who the current president is. Currently, I am helping her become familiar with its ability to play local radios stations, especially the ones that broadcast Kentucky Wildcat sports games. When I reminded her that it could read books aloud, she requested a chapter of the Bible; I found a beautiful professionally produced audio version with professional voice actors on Audible. This product has been a real revolution in my aunt's day-to-day life and the Prime Music connectivity is bringing her great pleasure and stimulation. I am giving it five stars because she is able to use it unassisted simply with her voice and because the Alexa app gives me a new fascinating way to keep track of one aspect of her day. My aunt hopes that a future update will allow it to control her TV and make/receive phone calls.

This thing is great she has a response for everything. I love it, music, quotes, jokes, time and weatger, a real one stop shop.

I received this as a birthday present and have really been enjoying it. Easy voice interface allow you to talk directly to the Echo to listen to news, music weather. Set up was easy with an IPhone, just follow the steps in the instructions and your off. Amazon is also creating other way to interface with the Echo through home automation. If you have one of the Logitech Harmony home Ultimate remotes with the hub then you can use voice commands through the Echo to launch activities. I really enjoy this Echo!!

Love being able to make my shopping list, listen to news. weather, playlists, and more. I am finding new ways , each day , to use it.

In this case - the answer is yes. Amazon beat google by a long shot. The google product doesn't match up. Amazon has done a great job integrating with other home security products as well as the hue, nest etc... On top of that the voice recognition is second to none. If you're an amazon account holder you can order with it, if you're a prime member you can access it's music (you can anyway, just get more with prime). Also plays well with other apps like Pandora. It's great... beats google hands down.

Product works as advertised. Setup is easy with Alexa mo Ike app for initial configuration. Speaker is perfect for streaming.

The Echo has been a great Christmas gift, love the music, news, weather - super easy setup and it just works right out of the box.

I love that I can use Alexa all day every day for all purposes. When I wake up, just relaxing, making love, and while I am sleeping. Alexa does it all I just have to let Alexa know what I want and she does it!!!

I was a little skeptical at first but this devise is amazing. I use it every day fo news, music and just paired it with my Harmony Hub. I can watch TV and never move my hands. Love it so much I bought a DOT also.

Great sound for music. Easy to install and use. Alexa is good and quick with her answers. I like the news briefs in the mornings.

Up front I want to say that I actually returned the Echo in lieu of the Amazon Dot. They are both basically the same device but I did not need the extra powerful bluetooth speaker portion of it as I already have a great speaker at home which I hooked up to the dot and it works amazing. If you dont already have a bluetooth speaker, get the Echo, keep it simple, neat and its a great omnidirectional speaker. I am still amazed at how much power these little devices hold. I learn new ways to interact with Alexa every week and it makes my life easier and more entertaining. I highly recommend this in your home if you have kids, my 3 year old daughter now spends time asking Alexa questions when I am not available.

I'm a techie. I love cool products. The Echo is a wonderful addition to the home automation revolution. Besides the home automation benefits, the sound quality is superb for the size. I love being able to play music, change the volume, and get updates all via voice. I would like to see some additional updates to how you can interact (without having to say Amazon or Alexa to trigger). Recommend it highly!!!

Many daily features that can be used to make your life a little easier - plays your choice of music on command, creates to-do lists for you, can make adjustments to the warmth or coolness in your home.

This is actually our 2nd Echo for our house. We had one for downstairs, and this one is for upstairs. If you are looking for a bluetooth speaker, you should definitely get this as it is about the same price as other speakers, has great sound, plus you get the voice control. Alexa voice control is good for playing music, asking about the weather, adding things to a list, setting timers, etc. The only downside is that she is much more limited in her knowledge than Siri is, she can't play from iTunes or apple music, or connect to iPhone notes. It is completely Amazon and other than apple having an app, that is as far as the iPhone integration goes. Overall, a great speaker with the benefits of voice control and other features.

I was hesitant and unsure of the value of the Echo, but was curious so I picked it up when it went on sale. The device is amazing - in that it can detect your voice and what you say even over background noise, clearly play music and speak. Since then I find I use it for regular news and weather updates, to play music, control lights and the temperature via ecobee3 integration, and I'm just getting started. There are thousands of "skills" that you can enable to customize the echo to do what you want.

Bought this as a gift for my family, mainly to play music from Amazon. Very pleased with how easy it is to set up and use.
