It's worked well for that. The Fire tablets are not ipads, so don't expect them to be, and you'll get along fine. Also, get a kid-proof case for it, and it can handle anything but outright abuse.

Not what I expected

Also have to make sure book has sync as sometimes it doesn't. The size is great but this is the last one I take if I go anywhere I have to wait.

Best Tablet for Content Consumptiom

It is not a productivity powerhouse by any means, although it can get a couple of jobs done. However, if you're looking just to browse the internet for leisure, read books, and consume content then this is an absolute must buy! For $50 it's a no brainer!

It is not that powerful and so great for little kids as an introduction to electronics. Cannot be used for teenagers or above, would need something more formidable.
