This tablet is very nice for small hands and a perfect
screen size. The case is a big added bonus-- it's
quite thick but not too much for a childs hands to
hold and it's raised up enough over the sides of the
tablet so that even if it were dropped, the surface
of the tablet would not hit what it fell on. It would
be pretty hard actually to crack the screen unless it
were directly hit very hard with another object. The
<ickstand on the back is also a bonus-- being able
to sit it to watch things handsfree is a great help.
It is very securely attached and easy to pull out and
put back- not flimsy and it's been used many times
already without any kind of issue. I see it lasting a
long time- even under "normal child usage". after all
you have to be sure the child is taught how to use it
without being rough and they should be helped and
supervised anyway. Had no problems with the setup-
very easy and connected right away to my wireless.
and it's very fast. There is plenty of storage room on
here for anything a kid could need it for and it takes
great pictures. Very pleased with this brand overall
and will purchase again for an upcoming grandchild's
birthday as the price can't be beat for all that you

Fine All-Round Tablet at an Unbeatable Price

PROS:
1) Unlike earlier Kindle Fire models, the Kindle Fire 7 supports on-the-go (OTG) technology, as many Android tablets do. (OTG: Using a special OTG cable, you can attach peripherals like thumb drives to your tablet). I attach a thumb drive to my Kindle Fire 7 with an OTG cable and can then transfer files to and from the Kindle using the ES File Explorer File Manager app (available in the App Store).
2) The Kindle Fire 7 supports micro SD cards with a capacity of up to 512 gigabytes. Internal storage is 16 gigabytes.
3) if you’ve purchased streamable videos from Amazon and want to download these to your Kindle Fire, you can choose from four kinds of video quality (the higher the quality, the more space required). I use “good” quality (the second-lowest quality). The video quality is perfectly fine, and a 128-gigabyte micro SD card holds quite a lot of movies and audiobooks.
4) It does a great job of organizing your Amazon content: books, audiobooks, videos, music, and apps. Even if you’ve never used a Kindle Fire, finding everything you need is easy and intuitive.
5) The price is half what I would have paid for the lowest-priced Android tablet.
6) Charges fairly quickly, and a single charge allows for about ten hours of viewing.
CONS:
1) You can use the Silk Browser to access You Tube on the internet, but the You Tube app in the App Store won’t install.
2) You can’t format a micro SD card on your computer for use in the Kindle Fire (If you do and then insert it into the Kindle Fire, you’ll get an error message saying the card is unusable and that the Kindle Fire must format the card). When formatting the card, the Kindle Fire gives you two choices: format for internal use or format as portable storage to transfer data between devices — but it then states that the portable-storage option is not recommended. I used the first option and had no trouble downloading audiobooks and Amazon videos to the card.
3) Inserting the micro SD card was a chore. I’m glad I don’t have to remove it and rely on it for portable storage.

Good speed reaction to WiFi, small and light enough for little kids even with the case, they come with tons of entertainment for 2 years through FreeTime and the best part is they’re very affordable and long lasting if protected with a good case, you can expand the storage with a card to have room to copy movies for the kiddos to watch when you’re not on WiFi reach.

I have to be honest, at this price point, you can’t expect a ton of features and high end specs in a tablet, and the Fire 7 is actually not that bad. It’s not great, it’s good in all areas. For a 50 dollar tablet, it’s has a decent screen, (but don’t expect high definition) decent sound (one speaker) decent battery life and a good Fire OS operating system. It’s made well, looks like it may have even cost you more, just don’t expect an iPad mini here. I don’t know how Amazon makes any money selling these Fire tablets this cheap, but I think the Fire tablet line has tremendous value. If you go one notch up to the Fire HD 8 tablet, the difference is big.
Bottom line, if you want a inexpensive entry level tablet just to putter around on the internet with and play some games, the Fire 7 tablet should serve you well with a small cash outlay.

These tablets are very easy to use and they have expandable storage!!! Love the size too. I bought 3 of these for my nephews and I . They’ll be getting theirs on Christmas Day. I have to say for $30 there is definitely no better content tablet than this one.

I wanted an inexpensive reader and internet access for traveling and this fits the bill nicely. The price of the Fire is so reasonable; and downloading books onto it (once you get the settings correct) is quite easy. Amazon Kindle support is quite responsive, as well.
the 7" fire is just a little lighter in weight than my iPad mini - and much less expensive. If it gets damaged or stolen, not as big a worry as if someone walks off with my iPad (particularly since I chose NOT to load it up with my contacts and calendar)! That said, don't rely on it as a full service tablet. LOTS of apps are not available, and you'll have internet access only when you can get a decent WiFi connection.

If you have an avid reader that doesn't want to use their cell phone as they prefer the "book" feel, and don't want to purchase an iPad because you like the microSD slot to expand your hard drive, then this might be the cheap fix for you. The proprietary Silk browser works well, but you can root this so you can use Google if need be, or use Firefox without rooting. I bought this for my daughter's friend and it was a great purchase. She can now read her graphic novels and comic books and magazines in full color, and as an avid Kindle user for her books, she's in heaven. She's noted that it plays Minecraft just fine and she likes the size, feel and weight of the unit. I recommend getting a screen protector as the glass on all tablets scratches easily and getting a cover is a good investment. We use a lot of Speck cases and they seem to work well, Otterbox for the little ones as they tend to drop everything. This is not an iPad or a higher end Samsung tablet, but for the money, this is definitely the most bang for the buck and within reason to gift to those in need (seriously, who wouldn't want to purchase something that encourages reading for a literate A student?? Nope, let's just get some more beer...grrrrr) Anyway, it allowed me to gift something that I otherwise might not have been able to afford to someone who cherishes it and will use it until it dies. For that, thank you Amazon and Best Buy. P.S. Purchase the extended accidental warranty coverage - these things tend to be a bit on the fragile side and the charging port can separate over time.
