New Kindle Fire

Posted .Hello Marji! Thank you so much for providing feedback on your experience with your new Fire HD10 tablet. Usually during setup, it gives you the opportunity to reset this device up using the backup of an older device. This would start downloading anything you had on your old tablet and bring over the settings as well. If your older tablet was outdated and not backed up, which can happen depending on the age of the device, then you may just need to manually redownload your apps and games. You can do this by navigating to the Appstore, tapping the menu icon in the top left corner (looks like 3 horizontal lines), then tap on Library. This will bring up a full list of every app ever downloaded to a Fire tablet in your account. Just be sure that you set up your new Fire tablet with the same Amazon account that was set up on your old Fire tablet. I do hope this helps some and that you have an awesome day!

It gets a million adds and viruses, and from what I have been told by the Geek Squad you can not add anti virus protection.. It is unusable most of the time. Very frustrating. I gave it a one star- because there was not any other choices.

We'd like to clarify a few things that may help. Fire tablets run on Fire OS, which is a closed, Android-based system that is actually very resistant to traditional viruses. What you're likely experiencing are aggressive pop-up ads or misleading notifications rather than actual viruses. Here are some steps that can significantly improve your experience:
Remove unfamiliar apps: Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications and uninstall any apps you don't recognize or didn't intentionally download. Third-party apps from outside the Amazon Appstore are often the source of intrusive ads.
Clear browser data: If you use the Silk browser, go to Settings within the browser and clear your cache, cookies, and browsing data. This can eliminate pop-ups triggered by visited websites.
Disable lock screen ads: Go to Settings > Lock Screen and turn off ads if you have the ad-supported version of the tablet.
Disable app notifications: Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications and turn off notifications for apps that are sending unwanted pop-ups.
Restart the device: Hold the power button for 40 seconds to force a full restart, which can clear temporary issues causing sluggish performance.
Factory reset as a last resort: If the issues persist, a factory reset (Settings > Device Options > Reset to Factory Defaults) will wipe everything and give you a fresh start.
Regarding antivirus — while traditional antivirus apps aren't available on Fire OS, the good news is that the operating system's built-in security and the curated Amazon Appstore provide protection. The key is being cautious about which apps you install and which websites you visit.

Great Tablet
