One thing you can do to ensure that you have the latest update (which may address some of your issues that you are experiencing) is to navigate to Settings>Device Options>System Updates>Check Now. If there are any pending updates that may address any of the bugs you may be noticing, this will begin downloading and installing to your device. Usually these updates are automatic but sometimes, fresh out of the box it can get held up or take a while to update.
