Amazon is able to offer some device models at a subsidized price by including personalized advertising on the device. You can remove the ads on the device by logging into your Amazon account. 1. Go to Manage Your Devices. 2. Select devices, then select your Kindle e-reader or Fire tablet. 3. Under Special Offers, click Remove offers. A pop-up window will then display the price to remove ads. 4. Select End Offers and Pay the Fee to proceed.     Sluggish and limited apps

    Super disappointed with how sluggish this was for a current gen device. The one app I needed wasn’t in the store. Finally got Google play store enabled and downloaded the app, but Bluetooth didn’t work so still couldn’t use it. Returned and got iPad instead.

    Very, very slow to do anything.

    This device is firstly very, very slow to do anything. Secondly, you must login with your Amazon account otherwise it is useless. Once you login the device turns into an Amazon billboard with various ads appearing on screens like the Lock Screen and when the device is just in standby.

      Hi John,

      We are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your Fire 10.1 Tablet. Upon set up of the device, you are prompted to log in with your Amazon Account so that the device can be registered under your name and account. This is for ease of use and if you choose to purchase any applications or games from the Amazon App store. From there, you do have the option to not see advertisements by going to settings on Amazon.com, not on the tablet. From there, you will click on to 'manage your devices. Then, tap devices and then select your Kindle e-reader or Fire tablet. Under Special Offers, click Remove offers. A pop-up window then displays the price to remove ads that you can choose to pay. This is up to your discretion.

      Could you describe the issue on the tablet? Virus's and Malware come from downloaded apps outside the official store or through malicious ads leading to pop-ups, slowdowns and battery drain.
      Sticking to the Amazon app store is recommended for desirable experience.

    For 16 days after purchase the tablet was great. Then flashing warning VIRUSES INFECTED!!! Stripped it down started over. Happened again 2 days later. That was this AM.

    Died after a few hours

    Bought this for my wife to load some videos for a long flight. Worked fine on the way. Sadly, it died in Mexico before our return flight. Returned it to Best Buy and they replaced it. Set up the replacement, hopefully it will last more than 4 hours.

    My old Amazon Fire finally quit charging so I bought this one to replace it. It keeps freezing up. Thought it might be the internet connection, but I have another Amazon fire that I started using, and it works fine. Will be taking this one back.

There is a way to stop pop ups from your devices, To stop pop-up ads on a Fire tablet, first uninstall recently downloaded apps that may contain adware, and then clear the browser cache and disable notifications from unknown sources. For lock screen ads, you can either pay a fee on Amazon's website to remove them permanently, or for in-app pop-ups, you can identify and remove the adware-infected apps.     This tablet is a piece of crap. I only replaced it because i paid for a warranty. If it breaks again or software glitches its going straight to the trash.
