As an adult it does require that you sign into your Amazon account but its for security purposes. The kid profile is truly just for kids, not mistakes of content that does not fit your child. Your child will only see content appropriate for his / her age, and volume can be set, also screen time limit can be set as well. Icing on the cake would be the blue light / shade option.

He knows way more about it than i do. He drops it and at first i worried it would shatter, but after several drops, it seems to hold up well.
