I just wanted a new tablet to read on. I have the Galaxy 5 but I didn't like having to use my phone for everything, plus the phone screen was a bit smaller so I would strain my eyes a lot. I was going back and forth between this and the Paperwhite, but they were the same price so I felt like I should get the tablet over the paperwhite. If I'm paying the same price, I should at least get the item that offers more capabilities. I'm so used to googleplay everything so it's taking some getting used to, to go through Amazon for everything. I don't like that there are advertisements on the sleep screen and I wish I could personalize it a little more but for $100 you get what you pay for. It is harder to read outside in the sun, I turned the brightness up all the way and it's easier. I did purchase some anti-glare screen protectors from Amazon for $2 though so we'll see if that helps. all-in-all, happy with my tablet.

I really like the Amazon Fire HD 6. After reading the reviews that other people had written I was happy with making this purchase. However, the screen could be a little larger (which it is on Fire HD 7) but Love that I can determine what my nephews can and can't look at online and the amount of time each of them has on it so there is NO fighting. Definitely worth the money if you are going to use it as a reader or for gaming or for watching movies on Netflix or wherever you stream from.

I purchased my Kindle Fire HD 6 from Best Buy on Black Friday. I used it for maybe 3 days when it started acting up. My friend (who activated it for me, since I did not have internet at my home at the time) told me he could not get it to turn on. I thought this was weird, since I had given it to him charged and on, it just wasn't set up for my amazon account and I wasn't able to download my books. He plugged it in and waited and nothing happened so he unplugged it and went to work. When he got home he plugged it back in and it turned on. After this I didn't have any problem with it, until about 3 days later I was using it and the screen went black. I figured it died (I had not been watching the battery) so I plugged it in and nothing happened. I waited about 20 minutes and it all it did was flash the Amazon sign. For 2 days all the kindle did was Flash the amazon sign. I took it back to Best Buy and did an exchange and I'm so glad I just exchanged it instead of returning it all together. I LOVE my kindle! The previous one had a defect, but the one I have now works perfectly and I couldn't be happier with it! I definitely recommend this item to anyone who asks about it! It's a great e-reader and does so much more! I can watch movies on it, I can read my books, and I play apps. This is the probably the Best tablet i've ever had, even over the bulky ipad. I Just love my Kindle!!!

This is a great tablet for kids - better than the $149 version. Splurge for the 16 GB version though so space doesn't become a constraint. I've found the amazon prime content really makes for a better experience than iPads or Android tablets with 3-7 year olds.

We bought this for our eight year old grandson. After playing games and reading books on my when he visits he was very happy to receive his very own and is quite proficient in using it. I would recommend this to others...young and old!

It's affordable, the screen is decent. You get what you pay for. It functions decently. However, the Amazon tablet interface is a little restrictive and clunky. Not easy to learn or get used to.

Purchased for my elderly mother and she has enjoyed it. Makes it easy to view, use and navigate. Good product for the intended use of e-mail, a few games and reading.

I bought this tablet for my little sister to read and play minecraft she absolutely loves it. Glad i choose this product.

I really like this tablet. Since getting it, I do most of the browsing on it instead of my phone, and I like how doing that saves my phone's battery...Great product!

This was a wonderful gift for my teen. They enjoyed the ability to read available book for the kindle. It was easy to use.

Bought one for my 8 year old son. Great picture quality, easy to use.

This is actually my second Kindle Fire and I think they are great. I gave my larger one to my granddaughter and she loves it. She uses it constantly and it's still going strong after a few years. The 6" is a better size for my purposes, but it's still the same great product.

My Mom loves this tablet! Used this to replace her original Kindle reader, and she loves the color and enhanced web functionality. This is a great purchase, especially if you can catch it on sale!

The Amazon Fire HD 6 - 16 GB is larger than I thought it would be. Was thinking about getting the 7, but the 6 is fine and you can get the 16GB for the same price as the 7.

You can watch movies and play games and it is good for kids and adults and will recommend this to friends and family

The fire is what I like to have for my wife that a hold lot.

I bought this tablet for its size and I really wanted to love it but there were some flaws that just didnt make it possible. The end all reason was the single wifi antenna which made not compatible with all wifi. It also had a bit of difficulty connecting to bluetooth devices. It was fine as far as functionality. I still dont get the inability to download android apps considering the fire is android based. This tablet was also pretty heavy considering the size.

Bought 2 of these as Christmas presents for my kids. We really wanted to love them but after many days and multiple attempts we couldn't get either device to stop freezing, locking, or blacking out to ads and the lock screen while we were reading books or spinning through the carousel (pretty basic tasks for the kindle). Time and time again it kept happening when different members of the family used them. I was hopin it was "user error" but had to finally admit it was the product and not the people. Hoping we can return them for something else.
