Good multipurpose e-reader

A dedicated e-reader may do better, however the Fire HD can also stream video and check email which makes the Fire HD more flexible and versatile. As an added entertainment bonus, I have watched a few "Alexa parody videos on Youtube, only to have the tablet wake up and respond.

Good alternative to iPad for Amazon lovers

Response time to touch screen is slower. Apps available is limited. However, it does the job with basic functions. If you are an Amazon fan with any of their Echo devices or Kindle services, then you will find that this device adds to the enjoyment of that ecosystem.
