I have the Samsung tab 10.1and wanted a tablet for outside to read and play games.I didn't want to ruin my good tablet so I bought the fire hd 8 and I have to say I just love it.. it's fast, screen is great and affordable and light to hold.. just buy it and try for youself...

I've only had this Kindle for a few days now and it has turned off and won't turn back on. The power is charged and nothing has worked to turn it back on. I loved my previous kindle but wanted an upgrade and so far it is disappointing.

It came DOA. I Just turned it on and after 1 minute it died. Tried to charge it, but it didn’t work. At least the process of getting a credit from Best Buy was smooth. Got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8. More expensive but it works!

The feature which is revolutionizing the world now is AI and this Alexa in Amazon tablets I bought is not working, nor supported though the product says it has alexa in it. I would like to return the product for this case

none of the games i want can be play here, because you dont get google store, no youtube, can even choose the internet browser i like to use. so it just became trash to me.

So annoying .. it goes into sleep mode after a minute passes by then you have to bypass all the games that are preloaded !! So annoying !!

I cannot install any youtube or youtube kids on this device. The kids' apps are very limited and hard to work.

Just bought and used it for half a day and the tablet starts to heat up so I will be taking it back

This is unacceptable spend the extra money for a tablet without obtrusive software and advertising

These products do not last you better buy a warranty

I bought several Kindle Fire 8 tablets as gifts and no where does it state on the packaging that there is a fee required to move advertisements from the home screen. I was rather furious about this when I first saw an advertisement on my lock screen offering movie theater tickets and later when I read about the process to remove the advertisements. Best Buy should have warned me that these were "subsidized" tablets.... Best Buy simply called it a sale price when the discount only exists because of the forced unsolicited advertisements. All in all the hardware for the price is definitely worth it and the Amazon app library is diverse enough. The advertisements being baked into the operating system is completely unacceptable in my opinion and a disgraceful thing for Amazon to do. That rant complete... Amazon resolved this issue for me very quickly... in a single support chat engagement less than 10 minutes. I provided them a list of the serial numbers (the DSN number on the package) and they removed the advertisements for free (saving me and/or my gift recipients $60 for removal from 4 tablets) as did it so whoever activated the tablets i'll be giving as a Christmas gift will automatically have the advertisements removed.

For the money, the hardware is amazing. Wonderful screen, colors, contrast, responsive and snappy processor. It streams movies extremely well, and with the SD card, for very little cost (relatively), you can fill it with TV and movies. Apps are fairly well supported, but not as good as say an Android device, but still very good. The bad thing, however, is the OS. It's really poor, and if you have an SD card, may not even work. Since 5.6.0.0 came out in November, it will freeze, sometimes giving the message "SD card unexpectedly removed" beforehand. This is worth googling before you purchase, as if you cannot have this device correctly function with an SD card, it is not worth the money I'm afraid. To summarize, do some research on known issues before buying this. As is, I cannot recommend it at all.

I was hesitant when buying this but it has exceeded my expectations. It is fast, battery life is great, and the screen resolution is as described. I have used it to read my online books/textbooks. Perfect for a student. Opens files easily from email. Only con is it doesn't have Google Play Store but that can be resolved by downloading it yourself, just google how to do it, it's very simple!

Great tablet for the price. Durable but not heavy.

Okay; we know this is not an iPad so the horsepower is limited but at the $80 price point ($50 on sale as I write this and as I purchased it), it's a fantastic bargain. Don't let any reviews here claim that you can't run most Android apps (including the Google Play Store and its apps!). You just have to be a little crafty. Follow the instructions here: http://saintlad.com/install-google-play-store-on-kindle-fire/ ...and in 15 minutes, I had the Play Store, Play Books (which means all of the books I had uploaded there now were available on the Kindle). Sure, you can use Amazon's services—Kindle books, videos, buying stuff on Amazon—but you don't -have- to. Note that this unit has the lockscreen ads which, frankly, you see only for 2 seconds before you unlock it; so don't waste your money thinking you have to pay more for the non-ad version. Web surfing isn't as fast as on my iPad but it's fine, really. (And I'm a Mac person.)
