This is great for reading books and being able to web browse and shop. Great shape. Battery life holds good and screen is just the right size.

My wife has an older Kindle that is about 10 years old and the keys just don't work like they used to. She decided to replace it with a Fire 8" tabiet (16GB) after seeing that the prices on new Kindles of similar quality were out the roof. Long story short: She likes the new tablet as a Kindle reader (with two big caveats). The down sides (why I took off two stars): After charging the unit overnight, the battery life is not good and the display auto-dims to levels that make it essentially unusable for her. We turned off the auto-brightness and manually set it to an acceptable level (which is not overly bright). None-the-less, she needs to charge it over night, every night, or she wakes up and finds it down to below 10%. Huh? She doesn't surf the web or have Wi-Fi on most of the time so why is the battery only lasting 3-4 hours? I hear that this is a common battery life for these units. Amazon needs to replace the existing power platform and programming with a higher capacity battery and better power management if they expect people to be satisfied. I can't comment on the general usefulness of the Tablet outside of using it as a Kindle reader. If battery life is any indication, it would likely only function for a couple of hours before needing to be recharged. Unfortunately, she was used to using her dedicated Kindle reader for days at a time--something this tablet doesn't come close to providing as a reader. The moral of the story: Buy a dedicated Kindle reader instead if that is what you intend to use the Fire 8" tablet for.

Works great, just the right screen size and weight. Fits in wife's purse but big enough to surf and play games. Great sale from Best Buy too.

The screen size was perfect for watcing Netflix and videos. And the memory was more than capable of holding all of the great games I have !!

These Kindle FIre tablets are a great deal!. To add Google play store, just look through some You tube videos and you will find the 4 things that need to be installed. After that, you can add any app from the play store, making your kndle fire very android tablet like. I will say that I had an older kinde fire HDX and the screen and internert connectivity were better. Also there was a mini-usb port that I used with an HDMI adapter to watch netflix while at a hotel. Of course, that cost more than the $50 these can he had for. Enjoy!

my grandson is 8 he has no problem navigating with this tablet. and it is inexpensive so it is easily replaced if he cracks the screen.
