I would definitely buy another kindle.This is my second Kindle.

Preferred the older version of the Fire. This one doesn't seem as sturdy, there are way too may ads, the battery doesn't hold a charge for very long, and the opening of applications is slow. Disappointed in it considering what the cost of this version of Kindle was. Might have been better off with the basic Kindle if the quality is the same and the price is much less than the 8" with 16 GB. Just not thrilled...

I love my Kindle. It a really good tablet! So far so good.

The overall performance and ability to move from place to place has been improved and the battery seems more efficient. So overall, the rating is high. The downside for me is the incessant ads when the unit turns on.

This e-reader was exactly what my wife was looking for.

For $169 you can't beat the price. I was going to go for the HD7, but was turned off by the lack of stereo speakers. I've owned an iPad and my daughter has an iPad mini, I wanted something non iOS. Being a prime member I had my sights set on the HDX 7 which I could never seem to find in a store. So once I got wind of this I was all over it. I did as much research as I could on Amazon regarding specs and comparisons etc. and of the HD7, HD8, and HDX8.9 this one seemed to fit the bill for price and performance. My initial impression when opening the package was seeing a very clean looking device neatly tucked away in a box. I was very surprised at how light the device was, and once I turned it on, and connected it to my wi-fi, I of course, had to run some OS updates which took about a half hour give or take a few minutes. Once that was done, I simply entered my Amazon info and I was up and running. The screen is crystal clear, no dead pixels, crisp, clean no motion blur. Colors are rich and deep, the sound, was pretty impressive for two small speakers, built into the edge of the case. I would have LOVED to see the speakers facing the front, but all in all it sounds very good. I definitely recommend getting a case designed specifically for this device. I picked up a generic "Fits most 7" and 8" tablets" and... it does... but the way it's attached is via rubber bands that you stretch over the corners and it holds it down. The problem with this is that it sits right on the power button and turns it off every time I put it in there. Right now I'm on the hunt for a case, I'm checking locally first then I'll order via Amazon if I don't find one soon. I absolutely love the fact you can expand the memory on this, up to 128gb I currently have a 64gb card in there for storing whatever apps I am able to put on it, without clogging my system's memory keeping that free for essential apps. The processor does very well running what I need it to which typically is games or videos. I've seen it lag down maybe one or two times but usually it's from me double tapping on an app or just being impatient due to slow internet connections depending on where I'm at, and like the elevator button theory... the more you press it the faster it will work... Not necessarily true with tablets. Appearance / Design 10/10 Price / Value 10/10 Sound Quality 8.5/10 Performance 9/10 Video Quality 10/10 Overall I'd be lying if I said this was anything less than a 9 out of 10. It's not a Galaxy tablet, it's not an iPad it's an Amazon Fire HD, and it performs just as it's supposed to.

The screen on the Fire Kindle HD is very crisp and clear. Easy to use. Colors are vibrant. Icons make it easy to navigate. Not only great for books but excellent for games/apps.

I bought Fire HD for my 9 year daughter because she really loves to read and she totally love it. It's very easy to use and can be locked down to prevent her from going to unwanted websites.

The Fire is a cheap way to start your tablet experience. Tablet is loaded with many ways to watch tv shows and movies. And it is a perfect way to read your favorite books.
