It is great except it won't stay charged for too long

I didn't really know if I was going to get a lot of use out of a tablet, but my wife has a Kindle fire 7" tablet and she really likes it a lot. So, I decide to get this Kindle fire HD 8" so I would have stereo sound and high definition capability. I must say, I was quite surprised with the high quality of the picture and the sound was actually more than I was expecting from such small speakers. Being an Amazon Prime member, there is a lot of "free" content avialable that is included with the membership. This was the main reason for going with the Kindle tablets. Also, I'm already on my 5th kindle book since buying this and I really like the "Blue Shade" feature that takes the blue light out of the screen if you like to read in bed. (Supposedly, blue light can affect your ability to get to sleep.) This may true, but I think its a little easier on the eyes also. My concern about not using this table much has turned out to be false. If your thinking about a "first" tablet, I love this one and the price wasn't that bad either. Enjoy!

My husband bought this item as a gift for me before I went into the hospital for major surgery. He knows how much I love to read and thought it would be easier than toting a bunch of books to the hospital. I truly appreciated that he bought this for me and have loved the convenience of easily buying books and downloading them to this reader. The downside is that it loses power quite quickly and must be recharged more often than I would like. The other problem with it that it cost nearly $150, yet I have to put up with commercial ads every time I power it up for things that I would never in my life buy or want. It is annoying and I don't for the life of me understand why I have to put up with that when the product was purchased...not FREE!

I bought this to replace an earlier kindle fire HD. I loved my old one so was very leery of having to pick out something different. I use this A LOT, several hours a day. Screen size is great on the eyes for reading. Love that I can read without having a light on. Camera takes good pictures, and it charges fast. I love it! The only thing I would call a mild dislike is that it seems top heavy when reading. I have had it flip out of my hands twice if I hold it towards the bottom. I just know now to hold nearer the middle.

My 100 lb. chocolate lab jumped on the couch and knocked my original kindle to the floor face down, well it cracked the face. I didn't even remember buying a protection agreement, so when I received notice that the agreement was about to expire, and what damages were covered for replacement, I had to take it to Best Buy for them to look at it. The cracked face was non-repairable and they replaced it with the HD Fire 8 at no cost to me! All I had to pay for was the new protection plan! It's GREAT!!! I loved my original Kindle, but I didn't know what I was missing until I got this one! It's larger, has a camera, I watch movies and it's just great!!! I really love it!!

My initial idea was to replace my Kindle Paperwhite with a 7" Amazon Fire tablet I saw on TV for $50 but when I started comparing Fire tablets on Amazon.com, I decided to pick up the 8" Fire HD tablet at BestBuy. A very impressive tablet that can do most everything an iPad can do for a quarter of the cost. This tablet is geared a bit more towards entertainment with a full HD screen and Dolby sound and the ability to take photos and movies, as well as Skype to friends and family. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tablet.

It is a great tablet, fast running, great camera, easy to surf the web, light weight, perfect size.

The Kindle Fire is light weight, easy to use, and the screen size is good. I love my kindle so I bought it for my husband for Christmas. The best thing about having a kindle is the ability to check online for the accuracy of references made in novels or find more information.

I have owned several Kindle's, this was a replacement for my orginal Kindle Fire that stopped charging. It has different screen set up and took a little getting use to icon locations, I really enjoy the changes in the screen format of apps, games, etc.. One dislike (which is the same complaint about my KindleFire) is the issues with using it outside in the sunlight. I was hoping that they provided an option to brighten the sceen for bright sun use or ability the switch to "white" for reading when necessary. Another dislike is it appears you can not remove some of the pre-loaded apps. (that I dont use) which will run in the background and drain your battery a bit faster.

I have been debating for some time about switching to a kindle. My mom got my daughter the kid version last year for her birthday bc we were traveling on a long trip the two of us and knew it would keep her busy. I love that I can quickly grab it and do a quick search. I have gotten on Netflix and for me the quality is great. I play a couple games on it and love the large screen compared to my tiny phone screen. I thought I would never give up holding an actual book but I have to admit it is nice to get a new one as soon as I am done with one. I put a bunch of apps on it to free up some room for my phone and haven't seen any lag or alert for low storage unlike my daughter's kindle which yells at me every other day. I am very happy. The only thing is bc I got the 8" I am having a hard time finding a case I like to fit but that is so insignificant. Totally recommend

I enjoy using the Fire Tablet. It has great Dolby sound and screen resolution even outdoors. Although I own Bluetooth speakers, I seldom need them with the Fire 8. It takes crisp clear pictures and is responsive without strain. I use a stylus to type. Amazon provides a more than sufficient selection of apps. I utilize both Kindle and Audible for reading/listening to books. I stream movies and tv shows without lag or buffering. Quick battery depletion is my lone complaint. I hope 6 months from now the Fire 8 Tablet still performs admirably.

I love my new tablet so much. I hardly ever put it down. So easy to learn. The screen is very clear. Fun to take pictures. Very convenient to use. I love to play my games on it. There is so much I can do with my tablet, it's just amazing. I rate this a 5 Star. ****** LOVE IT !!!!

Purchased for my daughter that is in college and she loves it. Great screen size and easier to use than her old one. The only negative would be that the battery does not seem to last very long.

I purchased this kindle for my wife. It is her third Kindle. She loves the size, performance and the weight. The tablet is used everyday for reading, Internet browsing, gaming and email. Great tablet and I recommend it to others.

I was looking for a tablet to read magazine. So a readers doesn't quite suit my need since they don't display colors. This tablet is nice. It isn't heavy and battery life is all right. More than 6 hours, not sure the exact hours since I didn't count. And also I download magazine a lot, the internet usage might reduce battery life a bit. The screen is crisp. I can easily read full page text without zooming in. I don't listen to music using the tablet, so I can't comment on that. 8 inch screen isn't as nice as a 10 inch one for reading, but the relative less weight balance out the con. You can hold the tablet for a long time without killing your wrist. I bought the tablet at full price. But amazon fire tablet are on sale all the time, so if you are not in a hurry, wait a little. Bought it from Amazon since they put it on sale often. Best buy price match too if you want to support a brick and mortar store. You can root the tablet and instead custom Rom too. Remember not to update the tablet when you first turn on the machine. It will make rooting a lot easier. Ps: if you read magazine, I recommend texture app, which offer ton of magazine for a low price. Check them out if you are interested.

I do love Kindles and this one is no exception. The larger size is definitely a bonus. The typing keyboard is still a bit slow but very doable. Overall a good buy and would do it again plus it takes great pictures with the two sided camera.

Picked this up as it was so cheap during holidays ($129) as a low cost tablet to use during travel. Was most interested in using Prime to download content and watch offline, and email and basic browsing. Overall this is as advertised. A little slow but as expected at this price point. You will need a SD card for storage but those are cheap. Very nice screen resolution. I had a lot of trouble downloading movies. It would repeatedly fail with a network error. Took many days and attempts but it seemed that eventually I was able to download movies to watch on the plane which was great. Overall decent value. Would ask Amazon to fix the download problem.

Very easy to use and is fast . some apps are difficult to find, but over all is a great unit. The camera and photos and e-mail features are excellent and so is the Skype application. A very good usable tablet.

Missed getting a price adjustment, it went on sale,only aloud 15 days to return. Thought it was 2016 model, but it's a 2015. Don't ask their not going to tell. No cases to fit ditto screen protectors. Guess what charging cord doesn't fit. It came with kindle. Think they'll make it right?or charge me again? We will see. Love kindle but still have some programs Amazon has to transfer.this one is faster then my first generation.like taking pictures w front and back camers

Very clear picture and sound. Great tv for the guest room. Sleep timer. Yay. This replaced a tv from the 90's. I hope this lasts as long. The quality seems good. Great brand, great price!
