Bought this as a gift for my mom for her birthday because she wanted one. She was ecstatic. It's small and light and working great for her. I definitely recommend a good case because it's delicate.

This is my second Kindle. I really enjoy using it from reading books to just surfing online. My last one lasted 2 years. The problem was that it would not charge anymore. Hoping this does better.

Bought it for my mother and she can't put it down.

My iPad recently broke. I mainly use my tablet for streaming only. I looked at many different models of tablets and went with the Fire HD8. I like the compact size, speakers are great for a compact tablet and the screen resolution is better then I was expecting. The only complaints I have about the Fire HD8 are that the power buttons and volume buttons are a little tough to press. I usually have it on my night stand standing up to watch movies and trying to turn the volume up with one hand as it sits there has been challenging. The App store from Amazon is okay, has most major apps but is still lacking in comparison to Android and Apple. All in all I am happy with the Fire HD8. Great Value!

Not bad for the price. I use it to get email and surf the web. It has issues at times downloading things but not real bad. This is sort of an inexpensive Ipad. Does what I need.

Lacking in RAM, loaded in bloatware. I had a first gen fire and it was a great little gadget. I find this device to be very laggy when changing apps. That may be the fault of the firmware, if I could remove it and put plain android on it I would. Even when closing all apps and just running one at a time it's still very slow. It does play videos well and when apps are open they are strong, But the wait to go between apps can be quite ridiculous. Pick up a memory card, you will need it. Presumably the best upgrade to the entire model line. External sd card support. It will let you install to the external drive, but keep in mind, it will only be splitting the load between the external drive and the internal drive. I'm not sure how the larger internal memory models handle, but I can't imagine it being much more of an improvement. Keep in mind as you select these large internal memory loaded fire devices the price creeps up quickly, before you know it you're borderline at the period of a galaxy tab or an iPad mini

Bought the Fire HD 8 to read books from overdrive. Works great. The books are easy to read . Makes it easy to go toot her web sites and Amazon for other books. Recommend to anyone.

This machine does it all-books, movies, games Etc. It is very lightweight so it is excellent to read in bed!! I find myself trying to "turn" a page sometimes! I love this machine!

I purchased this as a present for my mother. It was mainly going to be used as a reader. From the time that you turn it on the whole tablet seems like a big advertisement for Amazon. Even on the lock screen it was advertising for random video games. Long story short even after tweaking settings and preferences, the UI is not very friendly and it seemed like you always had to buy something from amazon. It also doesn't work with Chromecast. I exchanged it for an android tablet, that can be used as a reader and has full tablet functions.

So convenient to be able to read, watch videos, and go on the internet whenever I want. It is compact, but still a great size to watch videos. I read so much more now.

I just got my new kindle and i find that this one has a better format then the last one. It is also slimer and lighter

My daughter absolutely loves this tablet, they keep improving them. She recently moved up from the kids version and really enjoys how easy it is to interact with.

I bought my Kindle Fire 8 to replace my Dell and because my wife also has the KF8. It does everything i need our want it to do and would recommend it to anyone.
