I am sorry to hear the issues you were experiencing with downloading the YouTube Kids app. You can add YouTube Kids content, but not the apps themselves, to Child Profiles. To do so, follow these steps: Child Profile settings > Manage Your Child's Content > Add Content > Add Videos from the Web. Tap the profile circle in the search bar on the next screen for the link to YouTube Kids. You can also use the internet browser to go to YouTube Kids to view videos. While I know that this is not the same as having the app, I hope this helps with using YouTube Kids on your Fire HD 8 Kids Pro tablet. If these steps do not help, and you are still having issues with YouTube Kids, you can call Amazon customer service, available 24/7 for assistance on the device. You can reach them at 1-888-280-4331. I chose YouTube, so now when I tap on Add Videos from the Web, it takes me to Search below to find YouTube videos to add to library. If I tap the profile circle in the search bar on that screen, there are Sign in, Settings, and links to the other two websites.

You can definitely troubleshoot the connection by trying different plugs or by trying to plug it into a USB port on your computer to see if it takes a charge that way. If nothing changes, the good news is that all Fire HD 8 Kids Pro devices come with a 2 year worry free guarantee. So I would contact Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further and to explore your options on getting a replacement if needbe. If your littles want Youtube Kids...

If they just want games and books then it's fine, but my son mainly watches YTkids and that is just not something you can do on this tablet. The parental controls are also unintuitive and lacking when compared to Apple and Google, and the whole thing slows down if the kid opens more than 2 or 3 apps. It's overpriced for what it is. This was purchased to replace my son's iPad that I put in storage because I felt like it was a bit too much for him, but honestly an iPad really is the best option if you want a wide range of entertainment options and the most robust parental controls. My main complaint- I have been in IT for almost 20 years, I know my way around all kinds of OSes, but I cannot make YTkids work on this thing to save my life. It's honestly infuriating, something that should be incredibly simple was made incredibly difficult by Amazon for no reason. You can't install Google Play and the Amazon app store does not have any Google apps, so the only way to get to YTkids is through the browser. And that doesn't work. When you go to YTkids on the browser, you can't watch any videos without logging in, and the login process just straight up doesn't work. I can get as far as the parent login page but that's it. Tapping "sign in" does nothing. Doesn't give any errors, just does absolutely nothing. I tried skipping sign-in but that takes you to the age selection page, which doesn't render properly and the "OK" button gets cut off. Can't select age, can't watch anything. I did get it semi-working on the first day by going into the parent settings and whitelisting a bunch of Google account pages. I was then able to log him in and YTkids worked for a while, but the browser logged him out after a few hours and we were right back to that broken sign in page. I tried to go through the overly complicated login process again, but that process no longer works anymore for some reason. Ironically, regular YT loads and plays just fine on the supposedly filtered browser, which I found out after I heard a bloodcurdling scream and my autistic child came running out of his room crying hysterically after seeing a video of a zombie like creature. I was really hoping this would be a tablet I could just let my son play with while I did chores or made dinner without having to worry about what he might get into, but apparently not. Another gripe- why isn't profile switching blocked by default? This is such a glaring oversight. My son was easily able to switch to his older sister's profile and start messing around in her stuff. No pin required, just tapped her avatar and he was in. That was another needlessly complicated foray into the parent settings to see if I could lock it to his profile only, finding no clear way to do it, then giving up and googling how to do it. It IS possible, but you have to disable the other child profiles from the lock screen which is just stupid. It should be a setting in the parent section. Overall this has been nothing but frustration for me along with lots of tears from my son who doesn't understand why it won't work right. He is now back to using his iPad. This review is strictly for the product and not Best Buy, they were great about having it shipped to us next day when our store didn't have it in stock, so 5 stars for them.
