I returned the product on the last day possible. Apparently the upgrade to the to the processor and more memory did not make it compatible for my wife to use, she went back to her old Kindle.

      Hello mikeM,
I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your Fire Max 11 tablet. There is a difference between Kindles and Fire tablets. Kindles are dedicated e-readers primarily designed for reading books, while Fire tablets are versatile Android tablets that can do much more. Kindles utilize e-ink technology, offering a paper-like reading experience with minimal eye strain and extended battery life. Fire tablets, on the other hand, are full-color tablets with a wider range of capabilities, including browsing the web, playing games, streaming videos, and running apps. Hope this information helps you better understand Kindle and Fire tablet devices. Have a nice day! AmazonDevices

Simple and Safe Tablet for Family

I decided on the Amazon Fire Max 11 because I wanted a solid, attractive tablet (made of aluminum, not plastic) that was safe for my granddaughter to use and simple enough for my 83-year-old mother. While it is connected to an Amazon account, the access to unsupervised shopping can be locked down. Because I shop under my son’s account, the tablet claimed him as the owner, and I was not able to figure out how to change it. It has an 11-inch screen with high pixel resolution so streaming videos while traveling is a pleasure. After my laptop, the Fire Max 11’s bezel seems large, but perhaps that is the norm for a tablet. The speakers are decent, so the audio was clear and easily heard. The 8-megapixel camera took an adequate photo. It is probably better for video calls. I was prompted to open an unlimited storage cloud for my photos. I haven’t activated the fingerprint reader yet, but I like the fact that you can unlock it faster and that it offers some security. The microSD card slot means I can get more storage. The battery life is about 14 hours. It has 4 GB of memory and WiFi 6 for fast streaming. Amazon will push out security patches for four years on the Fire Max 11, but any system upgrades are up in the air. While I have the “productivity bundle”, it is not my intention to use this as a laptop replacement. The bundle comes with a keyboard, cover, and stylus. I downloaded Zoom, Netflix, Spotify, and Solitaire. Because the Fire Max 11 runs on FireOS, the only content available to download is from the Amazon Appstore. I don’t see many of the apps I normally use, and many of the games that are available have ads. The Fire Max 11 doesn’t have an audio jack, but then, I can’t seem to find many models that still have one with most people owning Bluetooth headphones, me included. When my husband and I travel, we want to bring a lightweight tablet on the plane so we can stream videos we download and watch together. To do that, we use a splitter, and we hardwire our headphones to it. I did a search and found a USB-C headphone adapter with a 3.5mm jack earphone. The Downside: • I mentioned that I didn’t choose this for productivity. That is because I can’t access my files on Google Drive or bookmarks on Chrome. The Amazon Fire Max 11 only has the Silk Browser. Plus, I can’t do split-screen multitasking (and I don’t mean two apps side-by-side). On my other tablet, I could use DeX mode to have multiple windows and move them around. • It is so annoying to have to see an ad every time I wake up the tablet from the lock screen. Is there a way to escape that without having to pay $15? While the Fire Max 11 is head and shoulders above all other Amazon tablets, it is not in the same league as other productivity tablets. That being said, if that is not your goal, then the Amazon Fire Max 11 is perfect for playing games, shopping, reading, surfing the internet, and streaming videos. To boot, the price is reasonable, even with the purchase of the productivity bundle that I recommend you get.

A Wonderful Addition to the Lineup

So far it's a wonderful tablet. The screen looks fantastic. Colors are great and everything looks sharp. The speakers are clear and decently loud. The feel of the tablet is amazing, certainly better than the plastic bodies of previous Amazon tablets. The fingerprint sensor works very well, and is a convenient addition. I tap my finger and swipe up on the screen and I'm in. Performance has been excellent so far. No stutters, no lag, no software glitches. The camera is ok, certainly not an iPhone camera. But it's gonna be good enough for video calls and the like. Overall its a great tablet, definitely better than my HD 10 Plus. Sure this won't beat an iPad Pro, and probably not a Pixel tablet in raw power. But the average tablet user, especially one with an Amazon Prime subscription, will definitely love this tablet.

Thank you for your feedback on the Fire Max 11 tablet. I am sorry to hear of the performance issues you are experiencing. Please try these steps to fix the frozen screen: 1. Hold the power button down for 40 seconds or until your device shuts off. If a pop-up appears with the option to restart, keep holding down the power button until it shuts off. (This step is important. Ensure you keep holding the power button down even if it shows option to restart) 2. After your device is powered off, press the power button for two seconds to turn it back on. This should fix the frozen screen you are experiencing. If these steps do not help, and you are still having functionality issues you can call Amazon customer service, available 24/7 for assistance on the device. You can reach them at 1-888-280-4331. I hope this information is helpful, thank you! AmazonDevices

Nice But Still A Fire Tablet

There's a lot to like about the Fire tablet but there's a lot to not like as well. The good : the screen is impressive and is great for streaming. The screen size is large enough to see everything clearly but small enough to be truly portable. Charging is quick and the battery life is pleasantly long giving enough to watch a couple movies without dying. The camera is good, probably better than I'd expect or need from a tablet. Start up time is quick. Something you don't think about until you need to reboot. And probably the best thing is I've not had any apps bomb out. The bad : it still uses Amazon's app store and that limits what you can directly download. That means you're using Silk for a browser and some less popular apps aren't going to be listed. Luckily, you can still side load apps and bypass that constraint but for a basic user that's going to be difficult. The processor acts weird in its speed. Streaming videos is smooth and clear, playing some games can lead to jittery animations and gameplay. Even when everything else is shut down it might struggle with some basic match games for a second or two and then it recovers. I can't tell if there's more hidden system tasks running in the background taking up resources or if it's just a flawed execution. All in all its a good tablet for every day use and for streaming in particular. I wouldn't use it for graphic design or intense processing, but I would for writing.

High quality tablet with limitations in use

First let me say that this is a very premium feeling tablet. I had an 8 inch one that is several years old and this is by far much nicer feeling and has a higher quality heft to it. The screen is very nice and adjusts for brightness (another nice function of the keyboard is the ability to adjust screen brightness without having to navigate through menus). Touch sensitivity was also good. I've used some items that are supposedly touch sensitive that make you wonder who they are geared toward because it takes multiple inputs to make it work. The size of the screen seems perfect for a tablet with minimal bezels. With this screen being so large it made viewing media (like youtube) nice to view and watch and touch inputs like on-screen keyboard were excellent and well spaced. All of these fine points are negated by: (1) constant advertising especially on getting the screen to come back on after it goes to sleep (2) limited app availability in the Amazon store - a real deal killer to me to use as a travel replacement for my windows laptop. I also found the activation of this unit to be obtuse - directions were sparse and I am not in the Amazon ecosystem. I tried to get it to install with the app on the phone to no avail. I finally did it manually with success. I guess if you are used to the activation of amazon items, this would be more intuitive; as someone who isn't in the Amazon system, I found the activation frustrating. I was able to install my Windows / Office 365 which I use on all of my systems so this is a plus. But to be able to use my phone/android apps is not possible - a real shortcoming to this.

The Amazon Fire Max tablet is a good light use tablet, perfect for someone who wants to watch videos, play some games, send some emails, and scroll through social media. This particular model has ads on the lock screen, you can pay a small fee to Amazon to have the ads removed from the device if you want. I have an Amazon Prime subscription which make the Fire Max tablet a nice addition to my gadget family. I can watch shows and movies on Prime, shop on Amazon, and read my kindle books! The screen resolution is beautiful and the tablet responds quickly and as I expected. You can purchase a separate micro SD card to expand your storage capacity, (they have kindly included the tool to open the SD card slot so be careful not to lose it.) You can download games from the Amazon App Store, save movies and TV shows to watch when you are traveling and with out internet. I can get around 12 hours of use before I need to recharge the tablet. Overall I like the Fire Max tablet and enjoy using it frequently.

Having owned other Fire tablets in the past, and not being really impressed by anything they did, my expectations were not that high for how this latest tablet would be. I was wrong! This tablet was a pleasant surprise, both in form and in function. It comes with 64 gigs of ram, wifi 6 on board, and even has a expandable micro sd card slot, something very few other tablets, or cell phones for that matter come with any more. It even included a sim ejector tool for opening up the san disk card slot..nice touch! It boots up quickly, and there was a software update waiting to be downloaded and installed. After upgrading, it asked me if I wanted to restore any or all of my previous Amazon programs and such, and also, automatically populated my Kindle library, which was nice! Eleven inches is a nice size for reading/video watching, etc, and it was nice watching netflix hulu, and you tube videos. Because this is an Amazon product, you are bombarded with Amazon Ads and offers, and its a bit difficult to download things that arent native to the Amazon eco system All in all, very good value compared to the competition, and, if you are looking for a above average tablet, at a below average price, this tablet would serve you well!

I've been using the new Fire Max 11 for the last several days. It is a sleek but a well constructed device. This this the latest offering tablet-wise from Amazon. Set up was quite simple and it quickly linked my amazon accounts together and this was impressive on how quickly and easily this was to accomplish. The screen is bright and has good clarity, but only offers 2k viewing. The operating system is still far behind Android and Apple and limited with apps. The 11 inch screen is definitely a plus. I got this with the case/keyboard and stylus bundle and they all work well together. The touch screen features are quite responsive and it has better than average speed. The speakers are decent, but it lacks that crisp sound you can find in other tablets and phones. Battery life has been soild and charges quickly. Its a good everyday use tablet. The web browser called Silk isn't anything to get excited about. It's underwhelming and not what I wouldn't want to use on a daily basis. The camera is also ok, but not one which would give you any wow moments. All in all I would recommend this for basic everyday use. That's what makes this a good value.

The Tablet includes a startup guide, USB-A to USB-C cable and AC adapter. The Tablet doesn’t have a 3.5m headphone jack. Instead, it only has the USB-C port. To use headphones, you’ll either need a 3.5m to USB-C adapter or Bluetooth headphones. Either way, the sound is nice and clear without static. The Bluetooth connection is easy and quick. Amazon Fire Max 11 Bundle specs: - 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage (another model is 128GB), 2.4MB 11” screen. - Eternal Micro SD card slot for up to 1TB External/Portable Storage (Micro SD card isn’t included) - Light weight and thin, about 16oz and about as thin as a pencil. - 8MP front and back-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording and rear autofocus. - Excellent multitasking with the included stylus and keyboard. Both automatically pair with the Fire Max 11 tablet. These are just a few of the 19+ technical details for the Amazon Fire 11 Max. The Amazon Fire Max 11 tablet has many productivity apps already installed, as well as the standard Amazon apps. IE: shopping, Appstore, Prime Video, Kindle, Amazon music, Utilities (weather, clock, calendar, contacts, maps, help, and Amazon Offers). The battery life, after a full charge, can last up to 14 hours. The Fire Max Tablet has dual-band WiFi 802.1 a/b/g/n/ac/nx connectivity as well as hotspots. The USB-C (2.0) connector with the adapter allows for quick charging. The Micro SD card slot is a “drawer” that opens using an included “pin”. The Audio is well balanced and easily controlled with the external buttons on the top of the tablet. This makes listening to my Audible Books a pleasure. The screen is perfectly clear for streaming, gaming, and reading.
