Some posts indicated it could be done on my existing device while others said it could only be done on this version. Despite repeated attempts and failure on my old Firestick it was done on the first try on the Max. In addition all Dolby features Atmos Vision etc we’re recognized. Does seem a bit faster & luckily I got it on sale. Overall works fine. If you’re replacing something other than a 4K or getting it for the 1st time, or trying to expand storage get this instead of just the 4K. Worth the extra $10 when not on sale.

Replace slow and sluggish OS on any smart tv. Only issue is low storage. After about 6-7 installed apps, you start to get “low storage” messages and it tells you it could affect performance.

New to streaming - this will help you out!

One failed about 2 months after installation. The other is used daily and I haven't had any issues. The one that failed is in a spare room that I hardly ever go into, so I haven't troubleshooted it further. I still recommend based on not having any issues with the other. Be sure to get the 4K Max one. Boxes look almost identical.

When I'm on a trip and staying in a hotel room that provides WiFi and TV that only shows local channels and no cable (which is not a smart TV, but with a HDMI port), I can plug it to the HDMI port, connect it to the WiFi, and what all the shows (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc.) that are available. And you don't have to worry about clearing the username & password from the apps because they are in your Fire TV Stick, and not in a Smart TV.
