I do not have a smart TV and it works great! If you are a total support member of the Geek Squad they walk you through it with ease.

Great firestick

Much faster than last generation

But it still suffers from the same issues that rest of them do, limited storage, and limited apps locked to the amazon store. Sure you can side load things, but you shouldn't have to. Having said that I would recommend it. Once you side load your preferred apps it's great.
