With this basic fitness tracker you get what you pay for, or more specifically, what you're willing to continue paying for. The positives for the View are a price that's a bit less than the main player’s product it emulates, a decent build quality, a tiny but bright and sharp screen, and a really good battery life. It was also quite easy to set up and pair to your phone through the Halo app. The app is the key to this product and what extends its functions beyond very basic monitoring. However, after the initial free trial this comes at a significant price of $4 a month. This means that if you continue with the app, you'll equal the price of the device in a bit less than a year and a half, and without the app there are no analytics or guidance, just some basic stats. Comparing results with my Galaxy Watch 4, I found the heart rate and step count to be fairly accurate, but the sleep monitoring was well off and of no use. Unlike my watch, I had to tell the View what type of activity I was starting. The bottom line is if you're just getting into fitness tracking and don't need GPS, links to other monitors and programs, it’s a relatively inexpensive start. Keep in mind that to be really useful, there an ongoing cost.

The Amazon - Halo View Fitness Tracker is a nice fitness device for those that would like to keep track of their activity, movement, sleep, and other health monitoring. The watch was fairly easy to setup. I was required to download and install the Alexa Halo mobile app. After installing the app, it takes you step by step throughout the process of setting up the Alexa Halo View. Completion of the setup process was slightly delayed due to a software update that needed to be installed on the device. Atet the update was installed, setup was complete. The watch face of the Alexa Halo View was much smaller than I anticipated. The bottom of the screen is reserved for the home button, and the side and top bezels are fairly thick. The screen has touch input, but when you want to go back to the previous screen you have to tap on the bottom of the screen, which is the home button. The Halo does not have notifications from your phone set by default. You have to go into the Bluetooth settings of your phone, click on the Halo connection, then enable notifications. You can also receive phone calls, but you will have to toggle that on from the Halo app. There’s also a toggle if you would like the Halo to control your music. The Alexa Halo View is extremely lightweight. It’s like I’m not even wearing it when I put it on. This will make it a lot easier to wear for sleep tracking, compared to other smartwatches that are much heavier and uncomfortable to wear while sleeping. Overall, it’s a good device to keep track of your health needs and workouts.

I have an Android Wear-based smartwatch with fitness functions and the first thing I can tell you about THEM is that the battery life isn't great a all - even with most functions turned off, I only get 2 days out of it and that's stretching it... Not the case with the Amazon Halo watch , where I am seeing roughly a week's battery out of it. The watch integrates into your Amazon account and allows you to view all statistics there. It's lightweight and almost no bulk at all. The display is easy to read, but admittedly I do miss the all the apps that are available on my Android Wear watch. But think about it - if you're only needing the fitness tracking, you're saving a lot of money but buying this and skipping all the "fluff" that you get with a full-blown smartwatch. Definitely a plus though if you're into the Amazon ecosystem. I'll be using it a lot in the coming weeks as I need to keep track of how much activity I get following a hospital stay after a car accident. Great item to have, and can easily fit into anyone's budget!

When I first opened the box on the Amazon Halo View I was not impressed. The Halo screen seemed too small, the band was too cheap, and it have an overall feel of being low end. While all those things may be true in many respects, you must look at the Amazon Halo View as system. That is where the line starts to blur and whether you will like it or not. Next you look at the low price, very low if you catch it on sale. To test the Halo, I wore it on a trip to Las Vegas where I tested it for over a week. It was a convention so there were some defined paths that I knew what the distance was going to be. Let’s look at the various features, functions strengths and weaknesses: Build quality, fit and finish – Well, underwhelming. The band is small, rubberized and feels like it will not last. The clasping is awkward and not like others I have tried. How it works is the rubberized band has holes in it where you place a nub that is on the other band. One secure, you then slide on band under the other through a clasp. This design is not for me, it is awkward and feels cheap. I cannot tell how easily the bands can be replaced if they break. I do see there are other bands that are available, but I would rather put the money into a better built unit. The main body was better with little flex and felt more solid than the band. The body did not scream top line but was comparable to a decent cell phone earpiece. Screen – First thing to remember - this is not a smart watch; it is a fitness band. As such, the screen is only about 1/3rd the size of typical smart watch. The screen is all plastic and is moderately responsive. Brightness is better than expected and easily seen under most conditions except direct sun light. Because of the small size of the screen, the text on some of the functions might be small for some people. Overall, the screen is better than I expected for a lower priced fitness tracker. Sensors – This is where the Amazon Halo View starts to shine. The heartbeat monitor is very responsive and accurate. I own several smart watches that are a few years old, and the Halo does a better job getting your heart rate. The step count monitor is excellent as well. To test the accuracy, I wore a 4-year-old smart watch side by side to the Halo while in Las Vegas. I never felt the old smartwatch was accurate and the Halo proved it. Over a period of several days, I walked a similar path down to a convention. My old smart watch varied greatly and never was close to the Halo. On the other hand, the Halo was consistent ever day. The numbers will never match day to day on the same path but there was a definitive, measurable pattern of accuracy with the Halo. The Halo does have an oxygen saturation sensor, but it was wildly inaccurate no matter how I wore the band. For me, this was not overly important, but you definitely should not buy the Halo for the oxygen saturation sensor alone. Functions and app – The Amazon Halo should be looked at the functions built within the device and what you can do with the app. Within the actual device, the Halo uses the sensors with the “exercise” function. That function lets you choose what type of exercise you do - walk, run, cycle, fitness training, weights, yoga etc. This enables the Halo to more accurately track your movements (which then integrates into the app.) From the app you can pull all the data – steps, sedentary time, calories burned and more. The Halo also displays your messages, incoming phone calls, media controls and has the usual timer/stopwatch functions. Everything works well and is easily accessed. The app is where it all is. Amazon clearly is concentrating on the software side. To unlock a lot of the Halo View's most useful features, you need to subscribe to the Halo Fitness. The first year is included but you have to pay monthly fee after that. What you get with that is a full health analysis, body fat ( you have let the app take a picture of you – I passed,) a library of workouts and recipes ( I could care less about that.) Set up – Download the app and follow the instructions. You must have an Amazon account to set up and follow exactly what the instructions say. If you connect to the tracker directly through Bluetooth, it will not set up correctly. I did follow the instructions to the letter, but I could not get it connect. After some phone restarts, reinstalling the software and hard resetting the Halo View, I was able to get it up and running. I almost gave up but tried a final hard reset and it connected. At the beginning of this review, it did not sound like this was going to be a good review. But there is a lot of technology in the Halo View at a very low rock bottom price. In fact, the sale price on Bestbuy right now is amazingly low. Even at the regular price, the Halo View is bargain, the sale price will seal the deal for many. That is not to say there are room for improvement. Personally, I would pay twice the list price if this was made with a better band, slightly larger screen and no subscription service. Amazon should consider make the software as a perk of signing on to Amazon price. From a functional standpoint, I would have loved to the Halo View to track distance during walks or runs. It will only track number of steps. It would have been a simple calculation based on height, inseam and number of steps to give a distance. Putting that aside, this a great deal on a device that covers most of the bases for a fitness tracker.

The Amazon Halo View is a great budget fitness tracker and smartwatch that I recommend to anyone who is interested in getting in shape and tracking their daily activities. It comes out of the box with a comfortable rubber wrist band and a very responsive screen that has no delays or any visual errors. The device has a slim design, and can be adjusted to comfortably fit while running, exercising, or sleeping. The smartphone app quickly connected to the device during the setup process, and is able to collect the real-time data without any delays. You are able to set up different activities, schedules for those activities, timers and stopwatches, and even track how well your sleep is through the sleep tracking function the Halo provides. It comes with a year subscription to the membership plan Amazon offers, giving you recommendations for food and other dietary changes that will help you get in shape quicker and easier. The battery lasts for several days and can be quickly recharged while you are showering or getting ready in the morning, allowing you to use it throughout the week without worrying about the Halo dying while you are utilizing it. The Halo also comes with many other useful features, such as night mode to keep your eyes less shocked when glancing down at the device, has a heart rate monitor that keeps track of how fast your heart is pumping, and it can even connect to your phone's text messaging service to quickly check texts without taking your phone out of your pocket. If you are someone who is very active and need a device to exercise and do physical activities with, this is definitely the product for you!

    NOT a Smart Watch (Duh)

First, I want to point out (as I stated in the title), this is NOT a smart watch, by any means. It has some similar features (i.e., the ability to receive notifications from your phone, like texts), but by no means should someone wanting all the features a smart watch offers seriously look into this item, as you will be disappointed. That disclaimer being said, I wasn't expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of the stats compared to my Apple Watch. I tested them by wearing one on each wrist when I went out for a several mile walk with my dog, and all of the stats (steps, calories, heart rate, etc) were all either identical or negligibly different (which could've been caused by the way I swung my arms or if I was holding the leash with one arm more than the other). The only issue I had with accuracy was tracking sleep. On multiple occasions, the Halo View tracked sleep much longer than I had been asleep (or even in bed) in the morning, and was up to 2 hours late in starting to track sleep, saying I had fallen asleep after 2am, yet went to bed at 11:30 and was asleep by midnight. I don't currently sleep with my Apple Watch, so I can't speak to the accuracy versus that device, but I do use the Sleep Cycle app, and when I compared the data from the Halo View to the app, there were several discrepancies beyond the start and end of sleep. For the TL;DR crew: Pros * battery life is great! * notifications are available on the Halo View from your phone (but you're unable to reply or really do anything with them but read them) * accuracy of movement data + heart rate is excellent! Cons * somewhat difficult to put on tight enough to get a good reading, but got easier with use * charger can be difficult to line up with the device (or maybe I've just been spoiled by the way the Apple Watch charges) * issues with accuracy for sleep tracking (see above for details) * it might just be the way I sleep, but the home button on the Halo View (and thus the vibration from hitting the home button) was hard to get used to and I kept setting it off in my sleep

The included manual is spartan to say the least. The charging cable has a clip to hold watch which is silly to say the least and takes time to place into holder for charging. Thankfully a charge is good for a few days. The learning curve is a bit steep as the software and faint markings on watch takes time to acclimate and realize where controls are. One think I dislike so far is no way to power off the device that I can find, still learning. Once you get accustomed to to the screen menu and how to move from screen to screen and back to home, you find it ok to use. You must download an app onto your phone to get the fitness classes and full benefits of the tracker…and a free year of paid subscription…but after that the subscription has a cost… The classes are pretty good, the charge life is phenomenal compared to my apple watches, fossil watches or my Samsung watches. That is a big plus but a big big minus is lack of gps. I find that heartbreaking as you need that to get good tracking when outside. The cost of the watch is under $80, if on sale for under $60, then ok but lack of gps, fee for the app classes in a year are all negatives.

The amazon Halo is a great option if you're looking for a fitness tracker that has several features to track activity, movement, and sleep. Right out of the box, the halo is a quick and easy set up. It comes with the tracker, charger, and a quick setup guide to get general ideas about your new fitness tracker. The charger is a standard USB to clip on charger that appears unique to the halo. Overall, I really like the look of it. It has a thing band and crisp, easy to read screen. The band is a soft silicone so it's comfortable to wear and the sizing fits well. Once connecting the charger, it will prompt you to complete set up on your phone app. Upon connecting it immediately started a firmware update that took about five minutes to complete. One of the best features about the halo is the app it comes with. The app includes a variety of workouts you can do right from your phone, tons of recipes, mindfulness exercises, and guided sleep meditations. All of your health data is in one area and easy to find and keep track of. I definitely like the sleep tracking on this one as its less bulky than my Apple watch. If you're looking for a fitness tracker that is more focused on health tracking rather than all the bells and whistles of a smart watch, this is definitely a great option. Its smaller and less bulky than other watch options which makes it more ideal for fitness. The screen is easy to read and the app has tons of great extra features.

I have had similar fitness trackers in the past, and there are three areas where the Halo View really excels. First, it is waterproof. Swimming has always been a big part of fitness for me, and I never wore watches before fitness trackers, so it is so easy to forget and jump in a pool. Being waterproof is a must. Second, the battery charge lasts up to 7 days, and can fully charge in just two hours. Finally, the charging clip is so much more convenient that the chargers for many similar devices. It is quick and easy to put on the Halo View and to remove. The Halo View fitness analysis app if pretty impressive, especially if you are not someone used to monitoring your activity, calories, etc. It also has great recipes which are easy and convenient, another healthy habit that it is important to develop ASAP. The guided workouts, progress tracking, and overall user interface are intuitive, easy to use, and the dat you are looking for is always easy to find. Lastly, I love that there are so many extra band colors available right form the Halo View's release.

Positives: Bright screen Relatively large screen Trackers seem accurate App is fairly intuitive Cons: Limited watch faces that all look about the same Text messages come over with so much garbage text (date and time the message was received) that it renders them largely unreadable. Watch band is very secure but annoying to fasten and unfasten Battery life is only about 5 days Charger is finicky I have very mixed feelings on this fitness tracker. On the one hand, I appreciate that its app is intuitive, its tracking seems fairly accurate, and it should be supported for a good long time since it's backed by Amazon. On the other hand, they made some rather questionable design choices. First, the band. It slips the "tail" of the band underneath the wristband making it much more secure. Unfortunately, this also makes it a pain to put on or take off. I'm consistently making it too tight or too loose as I struggle to put the band on. Second, the software. There are a few issues with the software. First, the band comes with a rather limited number of watch faces without any obvious way to add custom faces. Most of the faces that come with the watch are largely the same (albeit with different fonts and/or colors). Text messages also don't come across very well on this band. Text message notification was not enabled by default. You have to go into the app to enable it. Once enabled, text messages come across with a long line of computer code in front showing the message sender, date, and time that it was received. By the time we get past all of this, you have just a handful of characters left to show the actual message itself (cutting off longer messages). Finally, Alexa doesn't do what you think it does. I thought that I could use the "Alexa integration" on this band to summon up Alexa from my wrist. This isn't the case. Instead, the Alexa integration is that it will share your biometric information with Alexa so that you or guests can randomly ask "Alexa, how much does my host weigh?" or "Alexa, how many steps have I taken today?" Not exactly useful or desirable. The sleep tracking is rather ironic. I think that this band does a phenomenal job of tracking sleep patterns (far better than other bands that I've tried). Unfortunately, I find the band somewhat uncomfortable to sleep with. Aside from the physical sense of constriction on my wrist, the band's blindingly bright screen triggers very easily with a twitch of one's wrist. I found that I often woke myself up from a light sleep just by rolling over in bed. This could be adjusted in settings, but I worry that would interfere with the band's operation during waking hours. The charger is obnoxious. It's an alligator clip looking thing with a cord sticking out of the back and pogo pins, two "teeth," and gripping "arms" on the front. The "teeth" have to lineup perfectly to ensure that the band is actually charging. It gives a little vibration when it starts to charge, but it's not exactly "easy." I like the performance of this band, but I wish that they'd provide a different band and charger with it. It could also stand to have a software update to add more watch faces and give some additional options in settings.

The Halo View is a fitness tracker from Amazon. It's a sleek shape with a decent sized screen that does normal smart watch tracking though excluding GPS and some other features like music streaming. Battery life ended up pretty decent at 6 solid days with charging being via a proprietary strap that plugs into a standard USB port. You do get notifications and media controls - a plus for when I'm riding with a helmet and earbuds but the notifications were a bit lacking. Not much detail and no ability to interact from the watch. The suite of metrics tracked is what you'd expect - steps, sleep, blood oxygen, heart rate, and activity level. The Halo app is also pretty sleek, providing nice visualizations and engaging analytics of this data. If you're coming from Withings or Fitbit, you will not be disappointed. The data collection also seemed good and matched up pretty well with the days I had my phone completely with me. The only area where I'm unsure is the heart rate. It seemed a bit inconsistent, but I also have had similar issues with almost every smartwatch that I've owned, especially when I didn't have a nice fit to my hand (which I'll discuss a bit later). Where things get disappointing app/data wise is that you're locked in to the Amazon eco-system which is pretty minimal. There's no sharing or exporting of your data to additional fitness tracking apps. So, if you've been used to switching or trying out different fitness watches but having your data in the same place, the Halo View is likely not the one for you unless you're really won over by Amazon's walled garden. And given the limitations if you're not a Halo Fitness member, the band isn't as nice as a standalone watch. Another nagging issue - the band. Like many watches this shape, the Halo View is essentially a rectangular bean shaped device that's fits into a band or clasp - or in the case, the band or clasp fits into it. The problem - the connection isn't the most secure and the standard band isn't that comfortable. To be fair, I find most standard bands uncomfortable and end up going with third party alternatives. Right now, while there's some that can be found, they all suffer from the same issue - the locking mechanism to the watch. With it being unreliable, even swapping to a more comfortable band isn't a complete solution.

The Amazon - Halo View Fitness Tracker is at best a three or four out of five. The Amazon Halo fitness app though when combined with the fitness tracker is a ten out of ten. I absolutely love this app and all the benefits it offers. The tracker itself is a solid product and compared to others is top of the line. My contention for it is that it only offers a Bluetooth connection. It will spool your data and log your activity at its next sync interval but, I would have preferred it to operate more like a smartwatch. The Halo View is extremely easy to wear, and it is very well made. The onscreen operations are easily navigated through and with the permission granted you can even view text messages when within range of your cellular device. I am a big guy, and the tracker was very receptive to my touch. Being that bigger guy, I was worried about its size, but it was not so dainty that I had issues wearing it on my wrist. The tracker monitors steps, heartbeat, blood oxygen levels, activity, and rest among other things. The battery is incredible, I went one week before I had to charge it for the second time. The real magic happens for the Halo View tracker when you pair it with the Amazon Halo app. Again, this app is cool and I just cannot say enough good things about it. I work out a bunch and after taking the assessment, the app was able to accurately pinpoint one of the problem areas with regard to my ability to properly squat. The app has charted several correctional workout videos for me to help rectify my issue. Since using those videos, I am already starting to see some wonderful results with my form and my hip flexibility. The app is the data center for all the data synchronized from the tracker and provides a bunch of insightful information for the user from the data. There are even tasty looking meal preparation recipes. As well as other workout videos and a vast amount of fun and body positive information. I would not typically subscribe to such an app, but I am sure glad I did. I have been impressed with this pair. I am excited about a variety of updates and hopefully expansions from the app and additional widget downloads for the tracker.

As an avid user of fitness trackers such as this, I was saddened when I shattered my previous tracker from a big named company. Not looking forward to having to spend an arm and leg for a replacement, I went looking for a "cheaper" replacement that met or was better than the one I broke. The Amazon Halo looked like an interesting choice, as we are "all in" on the Amazon environment. The Halo looks a lot like my previous tracker, with the screen being a little larger (although the display area is actually a little smaller. The lower portion is a capacitive touch home button. The strap for the Halo is very narrow, with the pin through hole and tuck strap type system. It seems well secured, but I like the buckle type much better so I don't lose it. It comes with all the newer tracker standards, plus blood oxygen level, sleep tracking and heart rate. All seem pretty accurate, although not too sure on the sleep tracking (not too sure on this on ANY brand). The step count is pretty accurate, although washing dishes did give me some "extra" steps I didn't deserve! The Halo app keeps a pretty good job of syncing with the tracker, and displays all the most important information, as well as daily health reminders, recipes, and different types of workouts available through the app. It also can help with sleep topics and even tell your Echo what to do for sleep sounds. Unfortunately, I have not had it long enough to rate on durability, but so far so good. Although not as robust as some other trackers in the crowded market for trackers, the Halo still stands out as an excellent alternative to the name brands out there!

I've been rocking this for about a week and a half and have lots of good with a little bad to share. I absolutely cannot emphasize this enough, the battery life is just crazy. I've used it day in and day out and noticed it lasts 5-6 days between charges for me. It easily sets up with my iPhone and tracks some useful data like my heart rate, steps, etc. This watch does not have an EKG function, or any advanced heart related biometric feature outside of the heart rate sensor. The size and shape of the device is nice and is unique. The screen is clear and bright in all conditions, however it is not always on and has trouble waking on the wrist from time to time and may require some effort to get the device to wake. I haven't found a way to sync the health data with Apple Health, but does appear to have easy integration with other health services like weight watchers, Amazon's own, Orange theory and more. The last thing I want to discuss is the app. It is crazy awesome to me that they give you recipe ideas, work out ideas, and everything related to your health. I'd encourage anyone that doesn't need EKG functions to look at this watch!

I have never used fitness trackers before in my life but I was always interested in them. I have used Apple's Apple watch and various Samsung watches in the past which included fitness stuff but never a fitness tracker before. I figured I will try to use this device and see how it goes. So inside the box you get the Amazon Halo view Fitness tracker and the charger basically. You also get a year membership to Amazon's Halo fitness tracking membership for free. Otherwise it costs $3.99 per month So preface it to say once you use the year membership you can still use the fitness tracker for some things but not all for free. It works well if you look at the chart for free but you lose stuff like sleep scores and other stuff. I have it setup quite easily with the Amazon halo app and the battery is supposed to last around 7 days so sleeping with it isn't an issue. It tracks your different sleep states and of course tracks your steps and heart rate and etc. I mostly have been using it to track my steps, heart rate and my sleep and this does as good as a job as others i guess.

This is not my first fitness tracker, I've been using fitness trackers for the last 9 years. Downloading the app and following the instructions was very easy. After the setup, I went through the app and I did not like it. The app was too busy. The tracker itself was easy to read and easy to navigate. It is nice to look and looks good with everything I wear. Another complaint is that the battery life doesn't seem to be very good. I will see if I can tweak some settings to impove the battery life. Another thing I didn't like is I had to sync with the app and look at the app to see how much battery life I had left. This is a pain, I should be able to look at the tracker itself to find out how battery is left. I am hoping this can be configured and it was something I might have overlooked. The sleep tracking did not seem to be very accurate, I slept with two different trackers on and the halo had me awake for most of the time I was asleep. This is a good entry level tracker for the price, I wouldn't pay for the subscription since there are so many things I didn't like.

If I could summarize the Halo View Fitness Tracker, then it’s a health monitor in which the true value is found in the membership. Simply put, the Halo View does a decent job of gather data for my heart rate, steps, and other metrics typically associated with fitness trackers. However, the most benefits are locked behind a pay-wall. Fortunately, Amazon let’s you try before you buy (or in this case subscribe fully) given that users receive an entire year free. But what about the watch? Well I must say that I’m not a fan of the build quality. I don’t mind that the watch is plastic, but my watch has already sustained a few nicks even with light usage. The display is nice and vibrant as far colors go. However, I did wish for it to have been slightly larger. As a fitness tracker, it works well enough in providing me valuable information as I use it. To get the most insight, you must rely on the Halo View Membership in which you can charts, nutrition tips, exercise videos, and more. In conclusion, the Halo View is a good basic tracker, but is tied to a feature rich platform. I would recommend it given that you receive an entire year to use the subscription. Otherwise, there may be better options out there.

I had never heard of the Amazon - Halo View Fitness Tracker before I received it. It is a fitness tracker with a full color display. it tracks your heart rate, activity and sleep. This one has screen you can see your stats on. You connect it to your phone via Bluetooth. the actually track is extremally simple to use, a couple swipes left and right and up and down gets you to everything you need to see quickly. The actual watch leaves a bit to desire. The band feels cheap and is not easy to get on quickly. I also feel like it is about to fall off at any moment. it takes a couple times and some serious pressure to get the screens to swipe. Maybe i'll get the hang of it soon, but I was a bit annoyed with that part. The app is very user friendly. it's very easy to use and keeps all of your states in an easy to ready lay out. I am currently on the 1 year free membership, after the first year they do charge a monthly rate to get more scores (sleep score, workout intensity, meal planning, etc.)

For me, this replaced another smart watch from a well-known brand, with a fruit logo. It was an older one that was in need of replacing, so I thought I’d give the Amazon Halo a go. You certainly can’t beat the price but when comparing to higher end smart watches, it does leave a fair amount to be desired. Yes, in addition to being a fitness tracker, it’s supposed to show you texts and such. The problem I found is syncing. It was very hit or miss and super frustrating when I just wanted to throw it on in the morning and go. Having come from a smart watch that does so much and synced flawlessly, this was very frustrating for me. I would say if you want just a fitness tracker, this isn’t a bad option and the price is hard to beat. However, syncing it with your phone may be a frustrating factor. I personally feel like it’s worth it to spend a bit more and get something better quality and longer lasting that will do everything and more that a fitness tracker does. I also feel like, even if you don’t need a smart watch, there are other fitness tracker options that do the job better. This is Amazon’s first foray into the fitness tracker market, so I have no doubt they’ll improve with new generations of trackers, but I’m not sold on this one and think there are better options down the fitness tracker or smart watch path.
