This is so awesome!!! It’s not bulky like a book and the size is perfect. Fits it my purse and I don’t have to worry about losing my place. The books cost less than the book store and I don’t have to bring more than 1 book, just move on to the next download!!

Finnally decided to read book on eink instead of ipad and got this kindle. I just love it, it is amazing. The text is crispy just like real ink, and the backlight is helful in all lighting conditions. Kindle books are cheaper, so buying this reader actually saves you a lot of money.

I really have loved using my kindle so far! The back light is perfect when I want to read in the dark without straining my eyes or bothering anyone else! I have been asked why I don't use my phone or tablet and the answer is because the battery dies and distractions like texts and notifications. The battery on my kindle lasts weeks with heavy use compared to just hours of heavy use on my phone or tablet! As well as there is no heavy glare out in the sun and I can still see perfectly on my kindle. If you are not sure of getting a kindle I recommend it!

I had a very old Kindle and it died. I love the Paperwhite. It is so much easier to make notes, look up words, and get a reminder of who a person is (from earlier on the book). My only objection is that it is too easy to turn a page when you don’t mean to...

Purchased the Kindle PaperWhite because I got tired of reading on regular tablets and ipads. Those devices really do strain your eyes...not so with the Kindle. The display is crisp and amazing. The battery life is astronomical. Highly recommended and for the price...it is a steal.

I waited a long time to buy a Kindle Paperwhite, because I liked my first cheapo Kindle just fine. But I love, love, love the fact that it's backlit and I can read everywhere! The only thing I don't like, is with my old one, when I went to "Home", it listed my books and underlined the one I was reading. When I go to "Home" with the paperwhite, the books are showing but I sometimes have no idea which one I am reading because it's just showing the covers. I want a list with underlines!

I had previously used the simple Kindle. I was skeptical about buying the paperwhite as I thought the backlight would put strain on my eyes. But.. SURPRISE SURPRISE The light is focused on the kindle. Best purchase ever. A must have for all book readers.

I gave the Kindle to my 85 year old father as a birthday gift. The question the family had is would he feel comfortable with this high tech device. The answer came quickly. My mother said I created a monster because my father is an avid reader and has taken to his kindle like a duck to water. He really loves the ability to adjust the font size which has eliminated his need to put his readers on when using his Kindle. It took a very short time for him to learn to access everything necessary to operate and use his new toy. We could not be happier watching the joy this brings to this man.

The Kindle paperwhite is the perfect e-reader. The screen resolution, size, and capacity make a complete package. If your objective is to read, this is the optimal product. If you want to play games or are enamored with color for magazine viewing, do not purchase this product.

This is my first and it is great. Reading on this Kindle is so much better than any other tablet or phone. It doesnt strain my eyes and the books look clean and crisp. I like that i can adjust the font style and size to my liking and the light is a plus.

In the past I have always used an iPad or Galaxy tablet to read my Kindle books. Both worked O.K. but the screens were not ideal and I often found myself dealing with eye fatigue. Less than stellar battery time was also an issue. Enter the Kindle Paperwhite! This device solves all on my issues with tablets and adds an additional bonus of being very light weight. I am now able to read for longer periods of time without my eyes or hands becoming tired. I almost never have to worry about battery life either. This is about as close to perfect as you can get in an e-reading device.

I love my new paperwhite. I had previously had a generation 1 and a generation 2 kindle. This is a tremendous step up. I usually use my kindles for reading on the beach. I love that it is small and fits in my beachbag or purse. I like the back light on it also. If I had to make one constructive criticism I would have liked the page turning to be more like turning the page on a book like the kindle app on my phone works. Occasionally, if I don't hit the page turn in the right spot I get other "stuff" that shows up. Not a huge deal but I would like it to be more intuitive in that regard.

I used a friend's older Kindle and liked it. Wish this one had the side buttons for changing pages. Got this version because it has the light. I read at night when I can't sleep and the light is bright enough so that I don't have to turn on the bright overhead light. Battery life is nice. Was a pleasure taking it on a trip cross country with out having the weight of the books to shelp.

I have been on the fence for quite some time about getting a dedicated e-reader. Like many, I didn't want to spend money and yet another device. However, review after review always mentions that where the value in the Kindle is in the distraction-free reading experience and having finally purchased one, I wholeheartedly agree with this as well. The Kindle Paperwhite is light weight and is easy to carry around. This is my first Kindle since the 2nd gen, and I'm impressed by the speed and screen quality. The lighting on the Paperwhite is a huge benefit and is not at all distracting while reading.

This was one of the best purchases I've made. I have thought about getting Kindle Paperwhite since they came out, but I have iPad and thought it would not be necessary. I am glad I finally bought it. It is so easy on the eyes. It does not strain my eyes like iPad. It is slow but I get what I need. The ads didn't annoy me. I think it is pretty much the same as unlocking the phone. It is just like reading a book, but much more convenient to travel with, and I can download and share books with my husband. The battery power lasted several days.

This is my first e-reader ever and it's AMAZING. the text is so crisp there is not a pixel to be seen. The device is fast, and I haven't seen any problems in my last 1-2 months of owning it. Battery life is decent - I use the backlight a lot so it doesn't last as long as it would without - but it's still great. I love how you can borrow ebooks from Overdrive and download them on your kindle, easy peasy. Kindle Unlimited offers a good selection of free books for a monthly fee, and there is a 30-day free trial. Overall an AMAZING e-reader. Skip the cheaper version without the backlight - you're gonna need it.

This was a replacement for one of the original Kindles I used. I enjoy this product much better. Screen resolution and backlight are excellent enhancements. Works great in bright sunlight. Touch screen works much better that old keyboard. Would buy it again in a heartbeat

Purchased for 8y/o. Appears and feels well-built. Plastic screen vs. glass on higher-end Kindle models should prove more child resistant. Screen is recessed below frame edges, which also helps mitigate catastrophic damage in the event of a fall. Battery life is very good. Several books read at moderate brightness and still over 50% battery available. The screen has very good contrast ratio. In daylight, the backlight is completely unnecessary. The backlight is bright, and still soft enough to not induce extra eye strain. Highly recommended for any bookworm, young or just young at heart!

I used to have a regular Kindle and I decided to upgrade to Paperwhite, it's a much nicer experience. The back light which allows you to read in low-light conditions and the screen works just as well without the back light in well-lit areas as well.

After careful review, i have decided to reward my son with a Kindle paperwhite for his birthday. He has a new Dell lap top and sometimes uses a mini iPad but he really wanted a kindle of his own. I think he enjoys downloading his books to read for school and for leisure.
