I created an Alexa routine to turn it on when Ring is armed and off when disarmed. There are cheaper smart plugs, but I opted for Amazon as I don't want yet another app even if it's just for initial setup.

Smart plug confused owner

After trial and error finally got them to work and do far they are working. I like that I can control my lights when out of town.
