American Idiot by Greenday is actually a cd that my husband purchased around the time that it was released when he was still in Japan (through the navy). I have had an intuitive feeling to also check out more of the music that my husband listens to, with this cd being one of them. As many know, multiple songs on the American Idiot cd by Greenday have deep meanings that touch on various life issues such as American Idiot, Holiday,Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends. Listening to this whole superb rock cd is an amusing experience though I admit to Extraordinary Girl being one of my favorite songs from this collection (for some reason). Anyhow, American Idiot by Greenday is a meaningful rock collection for those who like music from the early 2000’s

Green Day have been making great music since the end of the '80s. Here we are in the new millennium...and boy how they have changed. While most music being made today can barely be classified as that as it is so generic and non-thought provoking at all [to say the least]. Green Day's American Idiot has once again challenged the status quo. They didn't revolutionize punk [Yes, I know they're "pop punk"], they revived it and re-energized it back in 1994. Now, ten years later, they didn't revolutionize rock and roll, they simply revived it and re-energized it. They did stray from their roots with this album, but as a Green Day fan that has kept up with the band's every move since I was a kid and not once in the 15 years that I have been a fan have I EVER once felt disenfranchised or left behind. This album is no exception. I do not feel that they "sold out" or "changed" their music to make a quick buck. In reality, when you think about it, this album strayed so far away from Green Day, and so far away from the disgustingly stale "music" that is being produced today in America, this was one of the biggest "punk" moves the band could have made. They took the biggest chance of their career knowing there was a 50% chance it would mark their comeback and the biggest album of their career, and that at the same time, there was also a 50% chance that this album would be the end of their career. The end of their career, or the end all be all of great albums? That's for you to decide, but personally, I'm with the latter crowd.

This was the first Green Day album I listened to and it is a masterpiece. So many good songs. This is the first CD I recommend to a new listener.

this is one very amazing cd its seriously the best of the best its one very amazing album from begining to end this band has been amazing since day they have rocked my world ever since i discovered them during 2000 and 1997 and 2001 this band is just simply amazing they are and always will be the best of the best

American Idiot was a shift in, not only the appearance of the band, but in their music. And let's just say that they nailed it! American Idiot is a phenomenal album, with Green Day doing what they do best. It's hard not to get fired up when listening to tracks like American Idiot, or Holiday. I would go as far as to call this album a masterpiece. It has a little bit of everything, in just the right proportions. Some great rock, mixed with some more serious tones. 5 Stars!

American Idiot is another top 3 Green Day album of all time. The catchy punk riffs and powerful rebellious lyrics attract all kinds of music listeners, not just Green Day's hardcore fans. Holiday and Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Give Me Novacaine are my favorites. Easily worth the 7.99 Best Buy makes you pay for it. Green Day at their best.
